I should of rented a 4w drive, didn't even think about it,I couldn't even take my trailer to get a load on it,but it is a nice truck,
Timothy GNothing needs to be done. Keep the people who work there.
Sandy HThe service was easy to use and the staff was friendly and professional.
jack rGreat service. Thank you.
Paul ZLower the price charged per mile, and also give discounts for disabled persons.
Joe EEVERYTHING WENT SO SMOOTHLY. THE APP WAS USER FRIENDLY AND THE DESK REPRESENTATIVE WAS VERY HELPFUL AND NICE
Estela GWe don't have a smartphone. Tanner and Tim have gone above and beyond kindness and been helpful so that we can rent trucks without a smartphone, by entering information manually. We've been told it's getting more difficult because of barriers U-Haul (the company) is putting in place. We would be very grateful if U-Haul (the company) would maintain systems that can be used by customers who don't have smartphones. Also this past rental was extra enjoyable because the truck was an older model, with crank windows, button door locks, physical (non-electronic) ignition and door key, and an analog speedometer. We reminisced about our move from Arizona to NY in 2001 with our two-year-old son who is now 27. We figured it was an early 2000s truck frame with a newer motor installed and a new odometer. In general, anything U-Haul corporate can do to resist the digitization and AI-ification of things and make it possible for individual customers to help, and make it possible for real human beings to have real jobs doing real, important work (like maintaining and renting trucks) we would be very grateful.
KATHERINE WReception bell.
Steve TTim at 1235 Benner Pike location is awesome. He's friendly and very helpful and accommodating. I have need of a truck at least twice a year for my theatre load in/load out. I will use this location every time, and recommend it to others. Thank you Tim, and thank you Uhaul of Benner Pike!
Robert BThe new online only check in is exceptionally aggravating. The photos would not upload for my rental so I was unable to confirm anything beyond the photo page (interior conditions, mileage, gas). The nice man working at the store told me I could just go without doing any of that since I had the keys. Not being able to confirm any of it made me nervous and the check in guy at the end seemed annoyed that I had him go through the items with me to confirm I wasn't going to get charged for half a tank of gas when that's what it started with. Seems like if you are going to make us use your technology for checking out your vehicle, your technology should at least work! Super annoying.
KIRSTEN GGreat customer service at pick up and drop off locations. Truck was clean and ran well.
Andrew KThe uboxes were much smaller than the ones we rented last time, and were made of plywood rather than metal. We didn’t have enough room for all of our belongings. Additionally, when we had them delivered, emptied and ready to be picked up, we received last minute notifications that our pickup was delayed by a day, TWO TIMES, due to the drivers being too busy. They were parked in parking spots at our new apartment and it created a really crappy situation between us, the landlords, and the other tenants who had to park elsewhere. Uhaul did not create this situation but they extended it two days past when we were told, and consequently told our landlord, they would be picked up. Not cool, Uhaul. Either hire more drivers or give them more time for each pickup. Seems pretty simple to me.
Chaise DOne trailor tire was half-flat
STEVEN LThe check engine light was on the entire time we rented the vehicle. Not a good look. The only reason I would recommend this location other than the other location on N. Atherton St. in State College, Pennsylvania is that idiot has Trump stickers and flags all over the place I would never go there
Leslie TNot being able to talk to a human (we were ignored in the store for about 10 minutes) was frustrating because the app sucks and didn't work well.
Matthew KEverything was as it should be.
Jerome Nquick service, very helpful
Theresa WVery very disappointed charged $31 for gas when I went 31 miles Total BS
CRAIG HEverything was fine until I got back, the old man with the 1930's mustache ripped me off...charged me for 4 gallons of gas when I only drove 25 miles, charged me me for a dolly because the zip tie broke even though I told him I didn't use it. Overall, if it hadn't been for that miserable old man making me feel uncomfortable the whole time signing in and then ripping me off for an extra $50 , it was an alright experience, the other guy there was very helpful and kind.
RAY EThey are very busy.
RICHARD BThere were kind and super helpful. Rental was easy and they checked to make sure I loaded car on the tow dolly correctly, tightening and better securing my car. Super easy and pleasant. Thank you
Theresa VGreat location. Shop guys are helpful and have first rate customer service skills
CHARLES AI always receive excellent service from this location. I go out of my way to make sure I use the Benner Pike location. Do you need anything?
Lori LThe gentleman that checked me in was professional, courteous, helpful and kind. I appreciate the assistance he gave me when I was having trouble with the app.
ANN EHad less than 1/8 of gas, come on huys.
THOMAS YStop forcing people to use the app
Jon LI got charged $56 in gas for driving a van 40 miles I also put 15 in gas before. that
Josh FWasn't able to make the employees not pissed off, regardless of friendliness towards them.
Chris SI returned the vehicle on one of the college's move-in days. Staff very promptly and efficiently processed my return.
Michael Lvery crowded location near Penn State, and lots renters returned their trucks after finishing the moving, but staffs were very efficient and came out to take the truck right away. Highly recommend this locaiton.
Steve HTim was a great help!
Suzanne BVan was late model and very clean…
John SOutrageous treatment this time. I love this location, and I have used U-Haul probably 5 to 7 times from the. State College Benner Pike location. The manager is awesome, and the place just does a great job with their equipment. But this was a wild series of events. I rented a pick up truck to move grass clippings (just grass, not bags, no rocks, nothing but grass), paid for the extra insurance, brought it back and it was dirty, and then they charged me $150 in damage. They claim that I made three dents in the side of the truck, but I am absolutely positive that I did not. Those checking in the truck moved some of the dirt that was on the side of it to find dents underneath, and then assumed that I made those dents. Nobody would comfirm for me that they compared the pictures of the dents in before or after photos. I drove back to talk to the people working there, and their arguments just didn't make any sense. I wasn't argumentative, explained everything that happened, and tried my hardest to see things from their perspective. But after listening to everything they had to say, there just is still no way that I could have caused the damage in the three small dents - with where the dents are and with how deep they are, it just would've taken a much bigger object than I had to make those dents (being used by far greater force than I used). Also, I guess I'm fortunate that I paid for the extra insurance. I only did so because the man working there when I checked in suggested that it would save a lot of money in case something happened. I never get the extra insurance, but this time for whatever reason, I said yes. The employee who talked me into it explained that someone had just had an unfortunate knick in their windshield which would have cost $724, but since the got the extra insurance they only had to pay $15. Well, apparently, my damage was up near $900, but because I got the insurance for $15, I only owed $150 in a deductible? That also doesn't make any sense. Why didnt I owe $135? Wouldn't the person who was going to be charged $724 but instead paid $15 for the insurance have also been charged the $150 deductible? I'll be back over to argue it some more tomorrow, but my oh my. If I had thought there was a way I had caused damage, I would be the first to accept responsibility and pay I also know that that sounds really nice - but I would actually do that. Just a heartbreaking tale today as I have always loved this specific UHauk will hae hope fit we will see.
Matthew NIt was average. I arrived and the worker told me he couldn't check me in, that I would have to use the app. So I downloaded that, had to go out to a key kiosk to get my key, etc. Just seemed like a lot of work when the worker could have checked my license, told me my truck number and handed me my keys. Truck worked fine and did the trick.
Will DThis is the second time I use U-Haul. I can't recommend this company enough. The customer service is excellent, very accommodating to specific needs. Thank you Johana, Liz and Rita, you rock!
Paula PFor customers using online checkin, remind them that they should check the truck for equipment rented. I had reserved a dolly, but there was not one in the truck. It was removed from the bill when I returned the truck.
Robert WThe drivers side wheel strap kept coming loose
william wThis U-haul location is great. Very friendly and always who I will use when I need a U-haul for work. The U-haul truck I rented seemed extremely old and worn down. I was actually a little scared to drive it - which hasn't been the case before. Hopefully they are close to replacing this one in their fleet.
Danielle SI used the app to pick up my u-hall, it was a terrible experience, took me over 40 minutes... I got to the site at 4:20 for a 4:30 pickup, the app wouldn't even let me start. Getting the back of my license scanned took quite a while and then the app just kept spinning. After 20 minutes or so I was asked to re-take my headshot. Then it told me to go find my truck, which was across the street, once I located the truck it sent be back across the street to get my key. As you can see from my reservation i didn't get out of there until 4:56. I will never use the app again. Picking up a truck at the counter has at most taken me 15 minutes.
William KCheck in wait was excessive and I had extra charges on my bill
Trevor SThe beginning process of renting my containers was great. The person I talked to was helpful and even helped me save some money. The drop off of the containers was smooth with the help of Jeff. After talking with Jeff, we even talked through a potential plan for when I moved to my new place. Well, that’s where the great people we worked with paused. After multiple phone calls, emails, and even going in person, Tanner (the manager) was unhelpful for an extended period of time until I had someone else get involved. Hannah, the driver who dropped off the pods the second time was AMAZING! She was personable and easy to talk to and work with. Overall, if it weren’t for the drivers, Jeff and Hannah, who elevated this experience, this would be getting a 1 star review due to the unprofessionalism from management.
HANNA CI'm trying to copy part of my receipt but the survey wouldn't let. The process of picking up the truck was overly complicated, there was only one person that could help and he was understandably mad at so many customers needing help. Next it took 30 mins for picking up the truck and while returning the truck they started to call me to check when I was bring it back. Next I only drove 18 miles (look at my receipt) and since they were rushing me to bring back the track I did not fill up the gas. They charged me for three gallons. The truck I use is listed with 20mpg, with 18 miles I drove they should have charged me for a gallon, they charged me for three. What a rip off, clear day time robbery. :(
Abbasalli MIn relation to the estimated gas usage: I was told at the drop-off point I had picked the truck up with 11/16th of a tank. Really? 11/16th? Are you sure it wasn't actually 23/32nds? Seriously, it's a gas gauge - there are no gas gauges measuring in sixteenths of a tank unless they are digital gauges, and that old GMC girl's gauge was certainly not digital. Otherwise a painless drop-off experience. Efficient, quick, polite people.
thomas mThe staffs are very helpful, thank you!
laela nVery friendly and helpful.
ALBERT JGood company
Brent MThe process of renting and accessing the box was not customer friendly. I also didn’t appreciate being a charged a full month after emptying the unit. When the box is reserved customers should be made aware that a 24 hour notice is needed.
Tatiana DThe pickup process was ridiculously complicated with the online stuff
Piper TMobile app didn’t work that well
Sara GAlways reliable
CHARLES AI normally don’t leave reviews, but I’ve been so happy with my moving experience. From start to finish, all of the U Haul agents I’ve interacted with have been so kind and helpful.
Melissa PThere was no working A/C in the truck. Also there was no power with going up hills.
CHARLES WSuggestion for upper management - Signs on the side of the road to instruct trucks to park across the street and take a 1st come 1st serve number for return. This location has a middle turn lane to turn left into, but it is very dangerous to sit there and wait for check in. Especially if someone is trying to turn right into an already full lot. That causes cars to go around them, and is very dangerous for everyone. Not the fault of the people that work there, its just the location and volume these guys handle requires more room and some sort of big signage to instruct people who are returning, and think blocking the flow of traffic, or sitting in the middle of the road is ok. Considering the volume of people that were behind me turning in, the staff was very friendly, and very organized. Their hustle was impressive and very much appreciated! Please, get some signs or lease more space.
GG SGood folks. Good service. One of the best U-Haul locations I’ve been to.
David BOwner was very nice
James SMy son packed my items and loaded the ubox. They brought the box when requested, they picked it up when we asked. They drove my ubox to their closest facility to my home in Pennsylvania.
Judy N | Overall ExperienceYou owe me $79.50. I ordered a box July-Aug 10. It was delivered, emptied, and returned. Now you think the empty box is full and charge me. Idiots. I will be calling again to get this fixed.
Jesse O | Overall ExperienceGreat option
Margaret C | Overall ExperienceEmployee took a long time to get a UBOX attached to my trailer. But they were so nice it didn't really matter.
Kenrick D | Overall ExperienceFrom a customer service and communication angle, this was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a company. Warning to others: call back multiple times to verify the info given is correct!
CIARA J | Overall ExperienceThe UHaul model of farming out phone service was a bit of an issue I could rarely get through to the local office always talking to someone at corporate, some mixed signals but everything worked out.
Darrin T | Overall ExperienceI was pleased overall. I shipped a ubox from CA to PA. Pickup and delivery were on schedule with no damage. Although scheduling times were put off to the last minute, and required multiple calls.
