Taking the pictures for pickup was somewhat troublesome. Had to move to a business driveway in order to take pics. It would be nice to start with at least half a tank. Not knowing what kind of mileage you will get puts the customer in a tough spot

We did notice the right wheels of the trailer wobbled at speeds between 45 and 55 MPH. The trailer should be repaired.

The employees were unkind and irritated towards us for simply returning our truck. They said comments under their breath that made us feel very uncomfortable. My last experience with u-haul resulted in multiple items being ruined because they gave us a faulty truck. and the person working at the pick up location said racial slurs. Had i not received this diagnosis and been in such a hurry to move, i would not have given u-haul another chance. but after this experience, i certainly will never be giving this company any more of my time.

Cab was dirty. Front end had unacceptable amount of play in the steering. Ok for local but a deathtrap at highway or interstate speeds. An awful rental experience!

I was appalled by the checkout process for picking up a 1-day rental cargo van. The U-Haul app is ridiculous. It is not user friendly. It added at least 1/2 hour to my schedule for the day. This is totally unacceptable and will cause me to think twice (if not more) before I rent another vehicle from U-Haul. Ditch the app, please!

The app is not user-friendly at all. Renting equipment is not a frequent experience for most people and you shouldn't have to download an app to do so. The staff at the store can't intervene, you must use the app. Waited forever to get "approved" and overall made it a frustrating process.

I think it makes a lot of sense to do check-in through the app. It was easy to use and I'm sure it saves times for the employees. However, I do wish we received an email or a note when booking so we could download ahead of time. Other than that, no complaints!

I scheduled the pick up online to be in person and not via the UHaul app. However, when I arrived at the store and even though there was a person standing at the front desk, I had to download the app and complete the check in that way. The blankets and dolly I rented were not in the truck and no one told me that they were sitting on the side of the building. It didn't matter because on my drive home, an alert came on the dashboard indicating the gap cap needed to be tightened. As soon as I arrived home, I checked and the gas cap was actually missing. I called the store and was told on the call that I had 'forgot' the blanket and the dolly & then had to drive back to State College to have the gas cap replaced. I didn't forget the blankets or dolly - I wasn't told they were not in the truck.

Having to check in through the app was more tedious and confusing than if someone at the store had just checked me in. I recognize the system is in place to allow workers to be maintaining trucks, but the guy there ended up just standing there watching me complete everything anyway and had to assist when I had problems with the app. He gave me a dolly I didnt want or ask for and then couldn't remove the charge from my bill (it was removed by an employee at my drop off location). I was told the truck parking spot would be clearly marked. It was not. It took time to find and I also had to cross a busy road to get to the truck, which wasn't safe. Once driving the truck, we also realized it needed an alignment.

The people at this location were great, I could not ask for better service. However, your app rental process needs work. The app is not easy to set up on site. It would not download and save the pics I took of the vehicle. It gives you a truck number and says the truck is either in front or back of the store…really?! Luckily an employee was there to help, Bottom line, improve your app process or get rid of it. Nothing replaces in person customer service. One last thing, having to give verification names and phone numbers and then having your company call to verify a 66 yo man with perfect credit is quite insulting. I never have to go through that with a car rental. I will try to use other options for truck rental in the future even though the people were awesome at the location.

This U Haul location serves Penn State University. I understand why mobile check in/out is necessary during peak moving times. It would be nice to have the option of counter check in & out during slower times. The truck I rented was clean and well maintained, and it handled a lot better than what I expected. However, the mirrors had to be manually adjusted which presented a safety issue on the road. I did in fact have to pull off the road to adjust the mirrors and felt like it created a safety issue pulling back into traffic. Additionally, the truck had 3/8ths of a tank of gas, and needed to be fueled soon after pick up. Closer to a full tank would have been appreciated.

Move took longer than expected and had to use the equipment longer than I had anticipated, causing a charge for two rental periods. Received a call from this location asking where I was and that they had other customers for the equipment. During pickup and drop off there were many other trucks of this size on the lot so I find it hard to believe this was any issue. I am also a paying customer for the time I use the truck. I paid for my two rental periods due to my extended reservation. During pickup I was also forced to use the app to pick up my truck after specifically requesting to not do so. They refused to help me unless I downloaded and used the app, then acted as if I was an inconvenience when I asked to purchase some moving supplies.

The new app only reservations is garbage. It take 20-30 min to get checked in, instead of the 5-10 it use to when using actually customer service. This idea that it allows you employees to spend more time on maintaining the vehicle is bullshit. Especially since I rented the same van two weeks prior and it needed an oil change then. And still needed the same oil change when I rented it again this week.

Uhaul requires everything done on the app, but the app doesn't work, as was confirmed by the man at the counter when I showed him the difficulty I was having. It took 45 minutes to pick up my vehicle bc of app issues and was frustrating as hell. Then I needed to go back in with questions about the vehicle and couldn't find anyone at all to help even though I called out loudly multiple times and waited several minutes. At least it was easy to drop off at the end. Not a good experience overall.

The staff here always provide great service and I don't hesitate to rate this location 5 stars! HOWEVER, the U-Haul experience -- undoubtedly forced by U-Haul corporate in some cost saving measure -- was completely miserable and I'm going to rethink any future use of the U-Haul brand. Everything now has to be done over the U-Haul mobile app: paperwork, check-in, identity verification, searching the lot for the vehicle, taking pictures of the vehicle to verify its present condition, etc. There's also a new step where you have to provide references, wait for some remote employee to call them and ask if they will essentially co-sign your U-Haul rental, and only then can you move to the next step. If the app worked, it wouldn't be super super terrible, but the app was nonfunctional for certain steps. I had to go back and forth, in and out of the building, asking the staff for help and clarification. An hour of my rental time was spent hassling with the pickup process. If you need a U-Haul, definitely go here, but if you can find an alternative to avoid U-Haul's new corporate nonsense, do it!

The truck was a rattle trap. Noisy, old and uncomfortable. Transmission was winding out and shifting hard. Air conditioning worked but did not blow out of the vents

We spent almost a half hour jumping through hoops and doing the work the staff use to do before the corporation decided they could make more money if everything from taking pictures of thr vehicle, to filling out paperwork (on the app) to loading the equipment we had rented to getting the key, finding the vehicle... Everything was our problem- why they have staff I am not sure, they did nothing and helped with nothing. We have always used UHaul in the past, but will be finding a better option.

Customer service needs to be improved. Very sarcastic and rude. Truck they gave me needs maintenance ASAP. Alignment is really bad and the brakes weren’t the best. Truck struggled to pick up any speed and dragged most of the time. Almost felt like the engine was gonna fail on me while driving.
