The trailer hitch needed grease and wasn't tightened down enough. I didn't have grease or time to go back to the uhaul location for two reasons: 1) it took 45 minutes just to get the trailer because the store was slammed with a huge line. 2) despite being there in time for pick up, I was still required to bring the trailer back at 1pm for another reservation. I needed to do a furniture pick up and couldn't spare extra time to locate grease to tighter the trailer. It was jumping and swaying the entire time I used it and really frightened me. The person who hooked me up didn't check the lights or tire pressure before sending me out. It would've been a huge difference if the person used grease to tighten the hitch and check air pressure to ensure I was safe. While the huge line of customers was unpreventable, taking a few minutes to check air pressure, check lights, and use grease to tighten the hitch would have ensured I was safe for the road.Spring P.

I've rented trailers many times from this location and my experiences have always gone well, but the folks at Uhaul went above and beyond this time around!! Originally, I had reserved a 5x8 utility trailer, but when I arrived to pickup, they discovered that the trailer had not been returned yet. After a quick scan of their inventory, they were able to get me outfitted with the larger 6x12 utility trailer for the cheaper 5x8 rate! I had all the space I needed for a big dump run and for hauling the materials for my project. They even extended my return time by 2 hours at no cost! As we plow forward in this digital age, I find it harder to get quality customer service. Dan Ackman and the staff at Uhaul have proven that good old fashioned service is alive and well! When I initially rented the unit on June 18th the experience was good and when I went into pay my monthly bill it was ok as well. Then came the day we were moving out September 12th. My niece and great niece drove up from Puyallup to get all the the items in the storage unit#2527. They rented a moving truck from your facility. They drove it out to my place in Ferndale to pick up some items that I had to give them. It wasn’t until we went back to your facility that we found out your elevator was not working. I’m 67 and a friend of mine, the same age as well as my to nieces were all the help we had. I went to the office and asked for help. The person behind the desk, I believe her name was Julz had no idea the elevator was broke down but there was another person a man, that said to Julz that it was broke the day before as well. Julz tried calling a supervisor and perhaps you as well. It was painfully obvious know one from your company deemed it important enough to react to her call. My wife also asked for help moving things and the man said they are not allowed to help move things. We struggled and got everything except 6 dining room chairs moved down the stairwell. Julz did the best she could but your team was completely overwhelmed. My Niece, Julie Casiano rented from you and I think you company owes her some money back as nothing about the elevator was mentioned upon renting the truck although in fairness, you crew likely didn’t know we were moving things out from your facility that day. Tomorrow morning I’ll be contacting your customer service dept and complain to them. It’s really unfortunate this happened the way it did but point blank, it did happen and I think it needs to be addressed and corrected by either you or upper management. It’s highly unlikely I will use your facility again and I’m hoping know one else has to be put through this. The Uhaul app did not work, it would not upload the picture of where I left the trailer and therefore would not let me complete the after-hours check-in. I was then charged a fee due to this mistake. The App did not work well but Daniel, the location manager was great and resolved the issue. Please fix your application.MARK M.
Pick up was horrible because parking lot was too jam packed. Then when we went to unload our storage unit. There is one elevator for the whole building and it was out of service. Unloading everything down two flights of stairs in an 80 degree building was a nightmare. But we couldn't come back because we already drove two hours to pick this unit up. Then we were in the office asking what to do about the elevator not working. Its under staffed and the employees are stressed. They tell us even if the elevator is broke that they cannot help us. One gal had a break down, which I DO NOT BLAME HER FOR! Literally the worst experience ever! And to top it off we way OVER PAYED. we were gonna get this done in august and it was only $170... this time we payed $420 for a huge hassle of a day. Don't rent dangerous vehicles to customers. They tried to get me to take a 27ft truck that had the catalytic converter removed and they knew it. I think they wanted me to drive it off the lot and make me liable for the damages. I could say more but I doubt it would do any good.Richard S.

This pickup location was way out of our way and I never got a call from anyone at u-haul telling me it was changed to this location. I had to call 5 places before I got an answer and everyone was short, burnt out, and annoyed. This cannot be your process. The Bellingham staff was very nice but clearly overworked as they were extremely understaffed. It shows! I feel bad for the employees. You need to take better care of your workers.Mckensy P.

I checked back in after hours, and tried to do the check-in through my phone. However, it didn't let me progress past the "share location" page, even when I followed the steps to enable location sharing. I left the van and put the keys in the key drop, and then sat on hold for 30 minutes until I could connect with a customer service representative to explain what happened. When I finally did speak with the right person, they assured me it was a glitch that many iphone users experience. I found the service to be good at the Bellingham location, but the customer service experience over the phone could be vastly improved - I had to call in twice with questions that could not be answered by the automated messages, and each time it took me 30+ minutes of waiting on hold. Extremely frustrating, but I'm happy with my experience with the actual equipment and the in-person service.ISABEL B.
My contract stated i had the truck for 24 hours. I was done with it the same day and have no place to store it once i was done. So i dropped it off a day early and followed the instructions on the app. So i get my statement the next day and i see a convenience charge for $20. Apparently this is for the use of your app and whatever energy i had to use personally to deposit your keys in your drop box. What a royal rip off. I thought dealing with the other locations was bad. I'm glad these comments will be posted for public viewing because I don't want what happened to me to happen to someone else at this location. I've primarily used U-Haul my whole life and never had a problem till I came here. After returning my truck, an employee did a quick check of everything and informed me that I went over the mileage by 10 miles and told me the charge was $14. I thought that was a steep penalty but I did go over my mileage, so fair enough. After receiving the receipt, I saw a fuel charge accounted for nearly $9 of the total that the employee neglected to mention. I just put fuel in a block away and got the gauge exactly to where it was when I picked it up and to where it was in the contract paperwork. I though it must just be a mistake and went in to tell an employee that it was incorrect and to take another look at the gauge. She told me I was wrong and said if I wanted to check it again I could chase down the truck. (The truck that they immediately started moving when they got called out.) So I did, (not that it was even worth the almost $8.92 at this point, but out of principal.) The U-Haul service employee ever so kindly let me take pictures of the gas gauge and mileage. Sure enough, it was clearly over what was indicated in the return receipt. Thankfully, I was able to successfully dispute the charge with U-Haul customer service. I just wanted to share my experience to prevent other people from dealing with this. Very poor service and no one wants to be ripped off.JACOB S.

The gal behind the counter "mistakenly" tried to over charge me. When reserving online I was given the option to select another drop-off location to save about $80 which I did then finalized my online order. When I went to pick it up that gal behind the counter said that the $80 higher price was due. I said that I remembered a lower price when reserving on line. She looked into it and eventually found it but had to find a way to add it to my reservation which I did appreciate but why was she given a higher price for me to pay?. I admit that it may not have been the fault of the gall behind the desk because she didn't design the website but whey didn't u-Haul just give her what I did online? Also, even though they did give me the $80 discount they did find more fees including adding tax. I'm not apposed to paying for a service or tax but I do expect that a website that has all the information that the lady at the counter has could calculate those fees and taxes before I hit the "Reserve" button. Parking and trying to get to storage was a challenge. We work during weekdays and only could come on Saturday or Sunday and could not back up to loading ramp. We even got stuck one time between others and trucks coming into lot. Can’t the drive up entrance be on the other side near the street and storage on opposing side ? Just feedback here only. I had the unit for 8 years, every year the price went up! I would get threatening emails if I was a few days late! When I came to pick up my stuff, I had lost the key and needed them to remove the lock, I was told I would have to wait for at least an hour and a half before anyone could remove the lock. This was Sunday, at 10:30, the male that had been there before opening, went up to remove the lock, it took all of 5 minutes to complete the task! Dan Ackman was horribly unhelpful and made our moving experience extremely stressful. After scheduling months in advanced and being told multiple times we would be able to pack our ubox at the Bellingham facility we were told two days before that we were packing our box at Ferndale. We specifically chose to have a storage unit at Bellingham so that we could pack our box there directly from the unit. When we expressed our concerns to Dan he said that we would be able to pack there on Friday (7/16) as long as we were done by 5. He said he would bring the box himself at 8:00am and bring it to the Ferndale facility that night. We were extremely grateful as this saved us time and would make moving much easier. That morning we showed up and the box wasn't there and there was no sign of Dan. We talked to an employee who informed us that they didn't even know what time he was going to be there. Dan never showed an we were left scrambling for a way to pack our box. We called the Ferndale facility and they were not even aware that Dan had made arrangements to get our box for us. Dan had lied to our faces to get us to leave and left us with no way to get our box packed. Because of this experience I do not feel comfortable using u-haul ever again. 6th bad experience with uhaul.... I know a lot of people are moving.... but man at one location they did my wiring for my toe hitch wrong, another location the Employee would not wear a maskand wanted me to come in the store, at another location the employee wanted to talk to me about how stupid it is to ask COVID related questions. At this location, I had to call 4 times (the fourth time I was on the way to the storage unit) to confirm I had a storage, as the other three times, no one could find the reservation. The employees for the most part wore masks (at the bellingham store) but not always and did not when moving the truck I was about to get into (not happy with this). And I was supposed to have a free month storage, which I got, but I was only there like 2 or 3 weeks and when I left I asked them if there was anything that I need to do to close my account. they said no your good and then I got an email that said I was late on my payment. I called the UHAUL number and a customer service agent said that he would pass the message along to the manager and I would be contacted in 24 to 48 hours, which did not happen. I called a second time to make a complaint, at which point he responded .... But man it has been like pulling teeth working with Uhaul AND THEY DO NOT TAKE THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS OF WEARING A MASK AT ALL TIMES AND KEEPING DISTANCE (especially AT THE EVERETT LOCATION.... the guy there walked straight up to me without a mask and took the keys from my hand. this is an insult to my safety and respect). I will let those know whom have to use you guys how difficult it has been to work with you and for the price I have paid, I would like to feel like I am being treated like a customer.
