I arrived at the location on weds evening 45 minutes before closing. I waited at the counter while an associate sat at the desk in the office behind the counter (door open and in view) texting on her phone and another associate was fidgeting with the air conditioner on the wall. No one greeted me or said â€œIt'll be just a moment, or I'll be right with youâ€ so I waited and waited while they chatted back and forth, before Christine finally got up from the desk and came to the counter to help me. By the time we had it hooked up and all lights tested, We left the u haul parking lot at closing time (7:00 pm) but our rental agreement showed 6:15, which I noticed later. On Friday morning at opening time, when i returned it, I asked if the second day charge could be reduced to 4 hrs instead of extra 24 hrs. I was told that was not possible. I asked if the 11$ insurance charge for the second 24 hr charge could be waived. I was told that was not possible. We rented a small motorcycle trailer and it rattled severely when we left the rental lot with it empty. We pulled over at an empty parking lot about a mile down the road and discovered the tongue was not properly secured over the ball and was banging up and down over an inch, causing the excessive knocking. We were NOT told at the time we rented the trailer to leave it attached when we returned it, so an associate could verify all the lights were still working. When We pulled in to return trailer 15 minutes before the store opened Friday morning. An associate was in the lot where we pulled in and never said anything to us as we disconnected it in front of him. Then when I went in to settle our rental costs, Christine, the same associate that rented the trailer to us, informed me, not once, but twice for future reference, to leave the trailer hooked up until all functions could be verified, and now they would have to hook it up to a vehicle to check. Why didn't the associate that saw us disconnect the trailer inform us ? Why didn't she share that information when we rented it so we would know in advance rather than embarrass and humiliate me in front of the customers waiting in line behind me? It was very embarrassing to be treated so rudely in front of the customers waiting in line behind me, when communication in advance would have clearly alleviated the issue. We were only trying to be helpful, and instead I felt chastised. I will never rent from this u haul location again, and be sure to inform My friends of my discriminatory treatment. Probably better to rent from small family owned location. Every interaction with every associate at this location was cold and rude, unfriendly and felt very discriminatory.Sara C.

Showed up an hour before I needed the truck. The representative told me I was at the wrong location and sent me on what turned out to be a wild goose chase for the next 90 minutes. First we reserved a truck roughly 2 months in advance. Then we found out that that truck may or may not be available. Then we found out that the truck wasn't available only 1-2 weeks before our move. Then we had to scramble to find a solution. We ended up reserving U-boxes instead. U-boxes were NOT the size described. They were a few inches too short, so for one of our larger items, we ended up having to rent a truck anyway. But U-Haul wouldn't allow trucks to leave Washington State, so we had to rent from another vendor. After driving the truck from another state, we had to wait an additional 2 weeks for our U-box to show up. Pricing was initially all over the place, but we managed to get it sort-of locked in, although it ended up being higher than what we thought was appropriate for what we got. There was a shorter, blonde-haired woman who drove our pods to our house, then jumped on a forklift-looking thing, and put the pods in our driveway. She was bad-ass and fucking amazing. Double her salary. I've moved 43 times in my life, and this was hands-down the most stressful move I've ever experienced because of the experience we had with U-Haul.Ryan P.

The young man that helped me was AMAZING! He went above and beyond to help me. I don't remember his name, but he had long hair in a ponytail. They were very busy but that didn't stop him from giving me the best service with a smile! He was working his butt off and really deserves recognition! Equipment had extra items unwanted we had to return, further delaying our departure which should have been accommodated timewise for our return. Also, mileage was configured between pickup and dropoff on a oneway rental, not accommodating miles to input address. Understandably one way or another the mileage is paid, but to have that explained at this point of contact instead of referred to an equally non-functional number was compounding the usual frustrations that accompany moving.Adrian L.

The trailer I rented was covered in dirt when I rented it. Not a big deal, but even a quick rinse would have made the rental experience stand out a bit more. The original representative that checked me out was not entirely helpful. I was by far less than satisfied, maybe even frustrated. I was asked for a reference at the time of rental and given absolutely no warning, then told that if I didn't have a reference that would answer the phone at that minute I wasn't able to pick up my rental. I have rented many Uhauls on many occasions and feel I should be at least mildly trusted at this time, plus it's 2021, very few people will answer a random call on a Saturday afternoon from a number they do not know. I found this absolutely ridiculous, and even more so given the fact that I was able to take my rental after a reference happened to answer the phone, BUT my driver's license was never checked. I'm sorry, but a reference is way easier to fake than a drivers license????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? After that whole absolutely appalling joke of an identity check, the representative told me that my rental was for 24 hours, I told them I was not going to be able to return in that time and that the website wouldn't allow me to extend my rental. I was instructed to call the next day "if" I wasn't going to make my return time and that I "might" incur extra charges. Why didn't the representative extend my rental at that time? Why couldn't they tell me if I would incur the extra charge? I found that also to be extremely frustrating, especially after I called the same location then next day, and a different representative was able to extend my rental and tell me the exact charges immediately after confirming my reservation information. If I couldn't tell my customer pricing for something that easy, my manager would fire me. I had a generally good experience, but the representative at my original pick up seemed well beyond incompetent.Tucker K.

Everything should be requested on-line - Example the 3 phone numbers required to rent a trailer. It is unacceptable to to fill out the on-line request only to stand in front of your employees and be grilled for more info just to rent a small trailer. U-haul needs to be easier to reach. We were trying to extend our contract but could not get a hold of u-haul via phone or online chat. Because we were obviously busy moving stuff we missed the incoming calls and then I look outside and there is a tow truck hooking up to the u-haul truck... AWESOME. We had to empty EVERYTHING out so the driver could tow it. Wasted mass amounts of energy and I am extremely upset with u-haul over this.ERIC K.
The location I ended up at was fine. The problem was I was sent to one location for a vehicle (I couldn't see any Uhauls there or where the business was marked but I was at the right address). Arrived on time and while I was trying to check in on my phone I received a call that that location doesn't have the vehicle I wanted and I must go to a second location that also doesn't have to vehicle that I was promised. I arrive at the second location, further away, explain my issue. I'm worried the replacement vehicle won't be big enough, do the have a different vehicle...no. So I'm stuck with a vehicle that I didn't want and I'm not even sure I get an apology. I'm disappointed there was nothing done to make up for the extra gas and inconvenience of having a smaller vehicle (10ft truck changed to a 9ft van) when it was confirmed I had a larger one.Katharine D.

The Uhaul retailer was great. Your truck is just short of a death trap. I run fleet management and actually worked at your Tech center in Tempe back in 1990. P/S pump which also runs the brakes was noisy and you could feel the pump struggle through the steering wheel and brake pedal. Tires are terribly out of balance and the headlight aim was terrible. I hope this truck is headed out of service as the mechanicals and the body condition is terrible. Three of these items I would rate as safety related.Mark G.

Try getting the equipment that was rented into the rental truck like i was told it was. Got to my location and no extra dolly or blankets. Sales staff more interested in their personal phones and girlfriends than doing their jobs. Took longer to get the missing items off of my bill because of poorly trained staff. This is the second time in 6 months we have used U-Haul for a major move. Unfortunately, both times things don't go a planned with our confirmed reservation. And both times the on-site staff blames the problems on U-Hauls corporate procedures. During a time as stressful as moving can be, we don't want to hear about the real or perceived issues the company is dealing with. If changes need to be made in the reservation process, I hope it happens soon. If there are no improves to be made, hopefully the on-site staff can be trained to stop passing the blame and just help the customer with what is need to complete a move or project. I showed up on time for my pickup and had to wait in a very long line that was not at all moving. The same customers were at the counter for 20 mins and there was a lot of socializing happening even though there were at least 8-9 parties in line. I figured out I could check in on my phone, but the lot guys had no idea how to manage giving me the truck after that. They even told me they didn't know how to do the online customers. I had to go back and get in the long line before I received a notification to skip the line and get the keys. My checkout time was 9am and I didn't get off their lot until 9:45 which made me late for my appointment. The truck reeked of cigarette smoke and air freshener and was borderline intolerable. When a customer asks for a specific length, explain the lengths. A 15ft truck is 15ft from rear top to front top and shorter from rear floor to front floor. I specifically asked if the 15ft truck is 15ft on the floor and was told yes. After going through all that information and paper work, had to go back and get a 17ft truck. If a person needs a truck for a specific length, bring a tape measure. The manager and employee insisted it was 15ft on the floor, it's not. Also, when asked the manager to come measure, she said she was too busy and went back in her office while her one employee had to deal with 4 customers waiting in line.ANN C.

I am extremely pleased with the staff and how accommodating they have been. I moved from Texas to Washington, and had to be in a short-term rental for 5 weeks. During that time I had to access my U-boxes from storage and the staff made that very easy to do. My delivery arrived at my permanent house safe and sound, even through some very tricky maneuvering up my dead-end street and my driveway built on a hill. Only having 1 employee on a Saturday morning made the process very long. Also because it took so long to get the van rented I was not going to go back in and dispute the gas I was charged with leaving with a full tank of gas which cost me 24.50 to refill when it was closer to 3/4th I took a picture. Also when you advertise 19.95 per day and my bill was 105.00 plus gas. It is very deceiving border lining on false advertising.
