This facility has had multiple burglaries and it is well-known to the staff. However, they failed to tell customers and knowingly put customer belongings at risk for burglary, which is exactly what happened to me. Conveniently, the security cameras were down for over a month in the area where my belongings were stolen. U-Haul claims no liability for their incompetence and negligence. They failed to notify customers they knew the system was down and yet claimed to have a secure storage area. It was near impossible to get management to return phone calls and I stopped by the office four times before I finally met the manager. A nice person, but clearly not permitted to solve customer issues by corporate. Very disappointing experience and would not recommend this facility for storage.TRAVIS P. | Overall Experience
Contents break ins unlocks doors. security cameras never operating. On site manager. The worst problem did not listen now l been broken into and now lam at a lost. The best way to solve this problem i have photos of ever thing the last few weeks before. I would really appreciate a meeting and show you, all the photos to what been going on i have been they 15 years average of 200 month and this last year no help to get this problem taking of. please look at the photos and see for yourself and there more. Poor customer service. When i rented the Storage unit the girls who helped me gave me my first unit. I went to the storage only to find a lock on it. So I went back only to be given another unit with a lock on it. So finally the third time of driving back and forth. I was given a empty unit. Well I ended up not needing the unit. So i requested a move out online. 32 days go by never got processed. I tried emailing the facility manager never took care of it. I tried calling never answers kept getting forwarded to 1800 due to no answer. Customer service sent emails to the manager never responded. I was told I would get a refund for June nope was lied to about that. Instead back dating to my move out date they put yesterday date instead. I was charged for an entire month due to their error and lack of service. I will never return to this storage facility again. Worse experience ever.Kayla F. | Overall Experience

The u haul employees did not have my reserved storage space upon arrival; but said they had another for me. We got there and it turned out to be an upper level catacomb style, yes, really; accessible only by ramp. I said heck no! Told the guys right then and the manager the next day. The internet sign in was confusing and clunky without proper instructions. Got multiple text and email messages that overlapped and didnt know which ones to respond to. When calling for help you never got to the right person or department instead it went to a call center where they also couldnt help. The digital keypad was broke for access to the building so we spent 30 minutes making calls and finally driving to another facility to find out the door was ioen and unlocked. The unit was sold as a 12x6x8 2nd floor. Its actually a 5x5x12, 6, off the floor accessible only via portable warehouse ladder. This should have been noted. Luckily we just had a mattress and sofa to load. If you had appliances or something heavy you would never get them in there.William Y. | Online Move In

We were given 2 separate storage units that were occupied. Then were given a unit that was half the size we purchased. We were given an open unit and told the price would be adjusted to the unit we purchased. This didn't happen for 5 mos. Our name was taken out of the computer 4 times in 8 mos, the insurance was removed and the price would go back to the higher price. We were charged a late fee and a $50 fee for late payment we were told would be waived because they couldn't find us in the Joplin facility computer. We were never able to access the bill online to pay it.. I feel this facility uses the bait and switch to get you in a higher priced unit and promise it at a lower rate but remove you out of the computer when an adjustment was made. Unit 15 that was rented to us smells like there has been a decomposing body in it and the floor is wet. It was almost after hours when we rented it because the initial offered unit was unavailable and so we were given a smaller one. The unit was dirty. In there system they didn’t know which one was actually empty. It had several leaks in the roof. It had a hole in the floor. Management put a uhaul lock on it because I did have a round lock on it. The reason why is the round lock would fit. This location is poorly organized and managed.TRAVIS R. | Overall Experience
Our account got “lost” and conveniently around that time, someone cut our lock and stole thousands of dollars worth of stuff, and most of it being stuff that is irreplaceable. One camera at the facility at the time and it did not view my unit. It has been difficult with insurance to get my items replaced and I’m still in the process, because my account was missing. The people at the actual location of my unit were helpful, but the ones at the office down the road were no help while dealing with this issue.Joseph M. | Overall Experience

Dear U-Haul , “What we have here is a failure to communicate”! That’s what the problem was at this facility. When I called customer service for U-Haul they said they had 4 available storage units in the size we wanted, but they really didn’t. They had 3 of them that had a bunch of junk in them, so they weren’t really available. We rented( even though we got the first month off),then waited for more than an hour with our movers(which was costing us more money), and finally we got frustrated,canceled and left with no storage unit. In the end, we were very unsatisfied customers. I take that back, the only 2 satisfying things at this facility was 1 friendly young employee(but he even set up with a storage unit that was locked and later unlocked by him to only discover that it had a bunch of junk in it)and the purchase of a lock. So,the only real satisfying things were some friendliness and the purchase of a lock. We will definitely not recommend this U-Haul facility to anyone nor ever go back. The unit was under construction as we were using it. I was a bit unsure of how secure it was at this time however, I understand it will be a nice, secure, well-lit facility when it is finished. I will never rent u haul ever again on storage I went into my unit to clean it out and alot of my stuff was ruined due to water damage, and I went into the office to try and talk to them to get them to deal with it so I didn't have to get my attorney or my renters insurance and they would not close my account out and they told me to leave their property then they call me and tell me I'm past due on my rent and want me to pay when I was already moving out when I found the damage before my move out dateDominic B. | Overall Experience
No lights however they were in the process of installing them. The lot was littered with sheet metal screws due to flashing install and light install. We parked on a nearby street just to avoid possible flat tire. Lot was very small and impossible to get larger trucks near unit without blocking several other units and restricting lot access to other customers. Im sure it was the systems fault, but i was assigned a locker, got there to find it locked. Had to go back to the desk (they were pretty busy so i was there for a while) and then had to come back to the locker old to find it was occupied with someone elses things. We then had to find a new locker, and i didnt have the option to keep the same size. The smaller ones available werent big enough, so i had to go with the bigger option than what I originally paid for. So, more money. We had returned the rental truck one day early and according to the paper work and staff we should be entitled to a forty some dollar refund. Please explain this discrepancy as we were led to believe we would receive a small refund if the truck was returned early. We have used B. Brand before with our moves and no problems, we move a lot because of my profession, look at your records. And I can say we would go out of our way to use brand B. With our next move. Don't have your agents forget to put in the moving equipment you rent. They forgot the moving pads and appliance dolly. I had to waste time renting them from another store and pay more to rent what I paid uhaul forCraig L.

The return was good customer service but the person who rented to us (Mitchell or Michael) was the rudest person and had terrible customer service skills, he was so unfriendly and made us very uncomfortable, we felt like a bother being there, We understand everyone had their problems but you must leave that outside of your business. Next time, we'll use a different rental service. This is terrible to treat your customers this way and if know one stops it it will just continue, only management can fix this problem. The shop is a good shop. The location is terrible. The intersection/light on Florida st., and 7th street is ridiculously dangerous. I walked to your business as I didn't have someone available at the time to drive me there, and I live/lived close by. There is no pedestrian walk light or walk for this intersection. This made getting to this business extremely difficult. The city of Joplin is endangering lives by neglecting a safety walkway for pedestrians. If somebody dies because of this, I hope they decide to SUE the city.Jeremy H.

.Upon returning the truck, I found my car blocked in by i believe a gray chysler car. The U-Haul workers in the bay next to the lot just watched and laughed as I struggled to inch my car free. I am sure it was very funny to watch the crippled customer get their car free. The employees should never have been allowed to block s customers car in that's just rude on all levels.donald M.

I returned the truck with the same level of gas and less than 5 extra miles compared to what I estimated and was somehow repeatedly charged on my card that I receive money on when I donate plasma. You have my email address. There is a lot to tell. This is the 3rd or 4th time I have rented from this office. They are RUDE, ARGUMENTATIVE, AND LAZY. Because this time was last minute, I did try any other avenue rather than use this office but was forced by time constraints to use them. This time the truck I used showed a low tire (and it obviously was) before I left town so I took it back and asked them to change it as I would be alone pulling a trailer into the night a long distance. The (bald) guy put some air in it, waited about 2 minutes and said "Looks like it is going to hold. I don't hear an air leak." (as he stood beside the truck next to a busy intersection) I again asked for him to change it. He refused. I went in, told the (tattooed) guy who shrugged me off. I made sure road side assist was included. That was Thurs. I made it the 200+ miles to my destination and used the truck some Fri morning. Sat am when I tried to use it, it showed low pressure again - and it looked low. I called road side assist. A guy came and changed it. Then he wanted me to take it and get it fixed. "Hopefully they will reimburse you". I was at an event and could not leave during the day. Sunday am when I was packed and headed home, sensor came on again. Called roadside again. They will send someone but I am on a road w/ little shoulder. We plan for me to stop at the nearest gas station and call. By the time I got there, the sensor says it needs servicing and the tire is visually fine. And I have no spare because the repair guy took it Saturday. I am in the middle of western OK. There is not a repair shop open for miles. I told roadside assist that I would keep an eye on it and did. It made it home and back to the office. I told the manager of the trouble. He could not have cared less. And I told him it was running hot at times, this I found odd since supposedly I was the first one to use it after being serviced. I also told him the running lights were not working. He said it MUST be my trailer. We have had this discussion at a previous rental time. Again I told him they work with other trucks. He charged my account (significantly more than my calculations, which is always the case) and told me I was set. I have listened, while waiting, to their interactions with other customers. I DON'T KNOW WHY UHAUL ASKS FOR A CREDIT CARD WHEN MAKING A RESERVATION, AND THEN make uou go through the entire process again when you are there for pick up. I don't like to complain, but I will. When prople are moving, they are pushed for time. It is an extremely frustrating experience when you arrive and then wait 30 minutes to hook you up. when you arrive, it should not take more 10 minutes to sign the contract and hook you up.Daniel S.
