I picked up the truck on Friday at 4 p.m. during the day. When I drove it home and loaded it, I noticed the lights didn’t turn on. I tried everything, read the manual, even asked AI, and indeed, both truck lights were burned out, preventing me from driving at night. When I drove out with the truck, a police officer immediately stopped me, saying I had to return home since I couldn’t drive without lights. Thankfully, he didn’t give me a ticket, just told me to go back with the truck. So, I couldn’t move at night. When I resumed in the morning, U-Haul customer service called me rudely, saying I hadn’t returned the truck on time. I explained I needed an extension due to the lights. They didn’t give me an extension—I had to pay. Because I could only move during the day, I couldn’t finish on Saturday. I finished on Sunday. When I called U-Haul asking if I could return it to another location, they wanted to charge me over $400. Thus, I couldn’t take all my things to my self-storage. I couldn’t finish my move as planned. I had no discount and paid over $150 for just two days. In other words, the $19.95 advertised comes with many extra costs—plus a truck with no lights, which I paid for. When I spoke to the location owner, very rudely, I said: “The truck you gave me had no lights; maintenance wasn’t done.” He said, “Call customer service,” and took the key, saying, “I just hand over the key.” That’s what he told me. I just handed over the key, provided the details, and here I am making my statement. In short, my experience was a disaster. It was my first experience, and for this reason, I have no intention of using the company again because my experience was terrible.

Dirty truck . Lights didn't work . Engine lights on .. vehicle was on its last legs . Customer service was TERRIBLE.. I knew some sort of upcharge was coming .. they said I dropped it off 2 hours later than I did .. I even handed the same guy the keys and he just kept saying call customer service . ABHISHEK SThere was no orientation or walk about prior to the rental. I was simply handed the keys and told the vehicle was parked a block away. On return, I was not provided with an accounting. I was told it would be emailed to me. When I received the email, I was surprised to see I had been billed for miles, not kilometres. Canada has been metric for over 40 years. How is it I would be billed for miles?

I will file police report for accepting giving a car under my license and my terms of service to another person. I will seek legal advice and file a legal report for this as well.
Allen JI have rented a Furniture Dolly and an appliance dolly. I paid for both, and they were not available on pickup. However, they have provided a utility dolly as a replacement. So I had to figure out how to move out.
Cristhian TWent to the location (deer lake market) I have booked for and for some reasons both the store clerk and I were having issues uploading the driver license; could not move pass that step, neither the app nor the actual website on safari were working; called the hotline at least three times, first time got hung up on, second time and third times couldn't find out what the issue was and we had to end up going to another location to pick up the truck. The whole process took an hour, booked for 10am pick up and ended up getting it past 11am. Having to move is already stressful enough but this is making it even more difficult.
Lok CThe VAN is very new and excellent. However, the store has inadequate facilities. The location is not very good and the service is very “manual”. I had to give my credit card details to someone over the phone, even though this information was already included in the app.

The truck was so low in gas that the first thing I had to do was go to a gas station. I will send an email to Customer Service to ask for a refund.
MARIA APicked up the truck on Saturday, Feb 22nd at 11:27am, had to re-do all the booking again since the person in charge pretty much did not care to any guidelines. The addons requested were also missing. Returned on the SAME DAY, at 2:49pm. The person in charge was not present the moment I was returning the truck, so his wife called him. He assured me he was going to do check out for my rental and that everything was fine. Today, Feb 24th I received my final invoice, stating that the truck was returned in this date, Feb 24th, charging me 140$ MORE than I had already pre-paid. I have already called customer service, but still no resolution. I 100% do not recommend this place

I thought i was getting contactless pick up but the man running the West African shop refused to give me the key even though I showed him I had the approved reservation information AND after I called the uhaul customer service TWICE, and they TWICE called this man and told him to give me the key, he refused. It took close to 1 hr of my rental time before he would hand over the key. Then the guy on the phone said I had to still return the truck at the same time I had rented to return it even though their employees took up 1 hr of my paid for time. Never again. This is a scam, and charade, and complete incompetence!
Joanna UTook 45 minutes to get the truck. Got told to just call customer service by the shop owner. Heater in the truck was broken which meant the windshield was completely foggy and dangerous to drive. Not a good experience.
Felix MThe battery was dead, truck driver came and tested the battery and had to replace it as it would charge with cables. The location is the worst, I reccomend everyone to stay away from this location as they are scammers. I rented the truck for 2 hours and it took 5 due to waiting for tow truck driver to come and they charged me for 2 days and would not explain, just said " not me it's u-haul" Do not ever go there.
