Ac would shut on and off something wrong with either gas guage or engine. As a professional driver fornover 20 years ive never seen a vehicle burn 1/2 a tank for 40 miles. Burning fuel or gauge is broken.. either way no way of getting a honest reading on fuel. So plan on spending a lot on fuel.
