We had a pickup booked for 2:00 p.m. on July 21. Around 1:40 p.m., we received a call from the pickup location saying they closed at 2:00 and that we needed to get there as soon as possible. The confusing part was that the person calling only identified himself as "Burlington Car Wash" and never mentioned U-Haul. We went back and a few times because he kept referring to "your appointment," and never mentioned the Uhaul until we went to end the call, thinking it was spam. We left right away and arrived at 1:55 p.m. When we got there, the staff member seemed visibly annoyed, even though we had arrived before 2:00. What made this even more confusing was that 2:00 was our pick up time and online says the business is open until 5:30 p.m. Once we got inside, he immediately started asking questions that we'd already answered when we booked online. He asked if we wanted the insurance, even though it had already been selected and paid for. I asked if he meant additional coverage, and he replied, "No, the same. I see that. I just wanted to know if you still did." It felt like the online reservation process didn't matter, and the interaction came across as short and dismissive. He also asked us for our drop-off location. I showed him the address exactly as it appeared on our reservation, so there didn't seem to be any confusion. The next day, when we returned the truck, the employee at the drop-off location told us that our drop-off location had actually been changed during pickup. No one mentioned this to us, and we were never asked if it was okay to make that change. Overall, it was just a frustrating experience. Between the confusing phone call, the attitude we were met with when we arrived, and having our reservation changed without our knowledge, it wasn't the level of service we were expecting. I wanted to share this feedback in hopes that it helps improve the experience for future customers.
