I've used U-Haul for decades in numerous states and I keep coming back to them. This most recent experience on 9-10-2026 to 9-12-2026 was the worst and not representative of my past experiences. A couple things ruined this experience for me. First, the truck had a defective duct system that prevented air from exiting the vents. You could hear the blower was on full blast, but no air ever came out of the vents, regardless of the position on the selection knob. And in Florida during the month of September, this is totally unacceptable. If it wasn't for the fact that I was moving only a half mile from the apartment to the house, I would have returned the truck immediately. Second, I was billed $45 for some protection plan when I rejected all protection plans when completing the reservation on-line. the young lady in the shop was in the process of closing when I returned the truck, so she didn't do the check-out until the following day. And that's when I saw they snuck this in on me when I received my email receipt. The $45 'Safe Move' charge should be returned to my credit card immediately since I rejected it when completing the on-line reservation.
