I lost my step dad and my mother 3 months apart. I helped my mother after her husband passed and got a storage unit for her since she no longer qualified for a 2 bedroom apartment the state was moving her. So that why we needed the unit. My mother was in her new apartment for one week when she had her first stroke. She had a very extensive hospital stay in Marquette for 3 months before the Dr told me she could no longer live alone and I should consider placing her in long term care. My mother was paying me the money for the unit from her account and when she passed the account got locked and I couldn't afford to pay as I am a single father of 4 and have 2 funerals this year to pay for. I emailed the staff and asked if there was an extension and explained to them what had happened. The return email I received was to the effect of you are a grown up and put the unit in your name correct? That makes you responsible and you will be charged extra if you are late I replied back that my funds were tied up and I was waiting on the houghton county court to release my mother funds and I would pay them in full. I was the told that if I didn't pay they would auction the unit. At that point I gave up... so sorry no your staff is terrible and I hope they suffer like I did and have to lose all their families possessions because fund are tied up in court while they mourn the lose of half their family.

Susan M | Online Move InI was billed and charged a late fee “delinquent” . I had already cancelled and left a clean empty unit. I called again and cancelled again so I will see if it is updated .
James V | Overall ExperienceThe lock and slider thing was really stuck, took quite awhile to get it open. I would suggest maybe once a year to grease the locks and make sure they open. I'm not sure it was ever opened to check on it, which I don't know if that is the policy or not. It was dirty and wet on the floor by the door. We had boxes on pallets but one had fallen off and that box was wet and moldy.

For some reason we were given two 10 x 10 units with a very inconvenient door to have to go in and then a hallway to go down to get to the units. We contacted U-Haul stating that this was going to be next to impossible to get through the door with all of our furniture, stove, refrigerator, washer dryer, dishwasher, and they immediately stated they were sorry for the inconvenience AND they gave us a 10 x 20 unit accessible by the road for moving our six bedroom home into as well as stated they would give us one month free storage for the inconvenience. This was very professional and thoughtful! We’ve recently had a fire and needed the storage unit. Thank you so much!
