I had been a Customer of this storage facility long before Uhaul ɓecame owners. The last 2 years I have experienced some hardships. This year I started with 3) 10' x 20' drive up units, got behind on payments. To see on what was owed, we moved 2) drive ups to 4) Uboxes and kept 1) drive up. My sister lost her home in Minnesota to a house fire in May. I went up to help her out for a week, wh SD n I returned, my step brother was found dead in n his home here in L I ncoln, NE. I explained my situation to your manager here in Lincoln north Fletcher facility, he said he would try to get Corp to back off a little with all the past due notices and Lein reminders, etc. and I would pay everything, but I was waiting on myself getting paid. He said he knew my pattern of getting paid and work it out like always. I left to help build my sister a new place up in Minnesota. I was gone for 7 weeks I returned in early August, when I checked my drive up, everything was gone. I emailed him and yes, the uh had an Auction he said. My Uboxes had not yet reached Auction time. Then I receive a letter telling me they auctioned off the entire drive up for a total of $60.00. I still owed another $600.00 plus for rent and late fees. How difficult would it have been to make a phone call to me telling me what was going to take place? They had my numbers, they called them before, but no one could this time? Then to sell a complete unit for $60.00? Sounds like an inside job to me and an employee made out like a bandit. My fault for getting behind, unfortunately , it is more important to hurt someone when things are not going well, rather than try and see if there might be a way to work things out.
