David b | Overall ExperienceThis was my first time renting a storage unit. The process was simple enough and all of my stuff fit. It was also nice to see U-Haul provide so many carts and dollies for the movers to use… my stuff won’t be in the unit for the entire month. It would have been nice to have a per diem or weekly rate option instead of having to pay for a full month. Feels like a waste of money and a missed opportunity for U-Haul.
MARTINA R | First ImpressionsBig Issue: U-Haul Co.’s lack of communication (not speaking of the local staff for this part of the review). When reserving a storage locker U-Haul does not clearly state what information they will require at storage move-in DURING THE RESERVATION PROCESS or even in subsequent communications. This created a very stressful move-in at this location. –– Location Feedback: the manager of this location is the perfect bureaucrat: unshakable and unconcerned about the context of why anything is the way it is. And, unfortunately, she sometimes mumbles her words. Nothing you can point to as bad customer service, but grating to be around, particularly as the start of our experience (different city) was rough. –– Big Issue Spelled Out: 1) while reserving a storage unit there was no indication that insurance policy info would be required at move-in ALSO a “U-Haul Rental Confirmation” email indicated that insurance for the storage unit was $0.00 and offered a link making it possible to add insurance BUT again there was no indication that it was a requirement to have insurance or that specific insurance policy info would be required at move-in even though AT MOVE-IN they require specifics like: policy number, company, etc. 2) required to provide the names of two additional people; one of them with an address. –– While at least some of these requirements are listed on the website, they are hard to locate and easily missed. –– RECOMMEND: Provide explicit notice of what information will be required (not just placed somewhere on your website… perhaps an auto-email checklist?) so that it is easy for people to gather any necessary information or documents to bring in-person. As to above questions, the staff was helpful but not friendly.
