I was charged a $25 cleaning fee for footprints I think. I’m not sure if it’s different here in Alamogordo, but it felt like a money grab opportunity especially since I’ve never been charged a cleaning fee for footprints or on any of my previous u-Haul rentals. I pride myself on being a good customer with U-Haul making sure to return any vehicle in the condition that I rented it in. For reference I used the U-Haul to move a brand new washer and dryer from the store to my house. I went about 22 miles with no other stops. I understand that I could have wiped down the floor area of the U-Haul, but I didn’t think that that was necessary, especially since it was the floor area near the pedals and the step to get into the truck. I was asked if the next family would be able to use the vehicle in that state and they would have been able to but I assumed that the next family would leave their own set of footprints in the same area. But if that is a standard that this particular location has, I guess I have to respect it, but I’ll be sure to keep it in mind if I decide to use them again. Everything else was perfect. There was no one there for the pick up or the drop off but the mobile pick up and drop off works like a charm. I would have preferred there be a person there to let me know about their standard of cleaning, especially since I had a microfiber and cleaning supplies in the back of my vehicle that I could’ve used to wipe down the cab area just to avoid the cleaning fee.
Jamaya VThis was not the original location. I requested a 20’ truck but after I got to alamagordo I was told none were available but I could have a 26’ for the same price. It was a nice offer but I couldn’t get a 26 ‘ into the pickup area. The store also closed from noon to 1;30 so I had to pick up earlier than I wanted which complicated drop off. I needed a 20’ truck, I left behind 5’ of stuff and will have to make another trip!! The personel were helpful and congenial, no complaints about the service at the location, just couldn’t get what I needed.
DAVID JThe car was dirty had Mac and cheese still in there when picked up. Also they lied about the gas gauge so you would be double charged. The online gauge showed and the actual gauge is different hence they will double change you. Also called one day before saying truck you want won’t be available so you have to make multiple trips which will cost you more. Plus dolly I ordered wasn’t there and was told this at pickup . Worst experience ever!!! encountered.
