I reserved a uhaul in the town that I was moving from. On the morning I was to pick up the uhaul, I received a message telling me that I had to go 30 miles out of my way to pick up the uhaul. When expressing my disapproval, they gave me 20 extra mikes and the extra gas? Well that was on me, of course. The uhaul that I was given also had the engine light on.

We had no idea how easy, accessible and reasonable the process was. We didnt have to bug our friends and great news! My husband doesn't have to buy the truck he has always dreamed of because now we can just rent a Uhaul. Wife happy. Dreams delayed. Score.

Tim BThe local store was fantastic, and the employees there did everything they could to help. This review is directed entirely at U-Haul as a company. This was, without question, the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I made a reservation and received a confirmation, only to be told the next day that the truck was no longer available. I then rebooked a smaller truck and received yet another confirmation. Less than 24 hours later, I got another call telling me that truck was no longer available either. At that point, I was left scrambling to completely rearrange my plans because U-Haul apparently considers a “confirmed reservation” to be nothing more than a suggestion. I was ultimately forced to drive to another city just to get a truck. To make matters even worse, I was specifically told that the extra 50 miles of travel caused by U-Haul’s inability to honor my reservation would be covered. Instead, I was charged for those miles anyway and am still waiting for the refund I was promised. The entire experience was an absolute disaster from start to finish. I wasted time, gas, money, and energy because U-Haul repeatedly failed to provide the equipment that had already been confirmed. If a company cannot honor multiple confirmed reservations and then fails to follow through on promised compensation, it seriously needs to reevaluate how it treats its customers. I have never experienced this level of incompetence, poor communication, and disregard for a customer’s time from any rental company. What should have been a simple truck rental turned into a stressful, frustrating, and completely avoidable nightmare.
Kurt GThey required self drop off. I'm glad there's a drop off point in Austin, but it's not even close to a full service site.
