Krista WTo begin, U-Haul changed the location of my pick-up to be further from my home, bypassing 2 U-Haul locations that are closer, while I was being charged a per-mile fee. This incurred additional costs for me and when I requested some miles to be included on the agreement or a credit be granted for the additional miles, it was denied. When I went to pick-up my truck, it was indicated that someone needed to be called to verify me. This requirement was never previously communicated. As is commonplace in society, no one was answering a call from an unknown/unidentified number. Therefore, my pick-up time was delayed. Advanced notice of this requirement will allow the renter to prepare the call recipient to accept an unknown call. Most frustrating was that after I drive further away from where my reservation was confirmed, I sit through providing numerous references until someone picked up, then the key to the truck was in a lock box and I was never provided the access code. Therefore, I had to call the 24hour service support number and sit on hold for 20 minutes. They also did not have the lockbox code for the location. The truck pick-up process was one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had with a company, and significantly cut into my truck reservation time. I could not complete all the items I planned to move due to the reduced time. I will use a competitor for any future truck rentals.
