This location was AWFUL and should not be an authorized U-Haul pick up location. The man told me they are not allowed to hook up the trailers, that they are just supposed to inspect it once it’s hooked it up. That is a major liability asking someone who has no idea how to hook it up to do it as the trailer could come unhitched. Furthermore what if I was elderly or had a disability and wasn’t able to. He argued with me over and over about it when I told him every location I had ever picked up from had hooked it up for me. I rent trailers at least 2x per year. Even uhauls site says they should hook it up. He eventually hooked it up for me but not without complaining the entire time telling me that the reason they don’t is because if something happened, it would come back on them! WHAT??? Absolutely awful. Not to mention the location is very hot inside and smells horrible.

I always check over any trailer before making a long commute which includes checking tire pressures and verifying lug nut torque. I found 2 of the 4 wheels had all of the lug nuts loose and unsafe to drive on. I torqued them to spec to prevent a wheel coming off on my trip and futures renters. These basic services should be done frequently by Uhaul to ensure safety, not the renter.
Sam EInitial delivery place listed on my contract was not occupied and all buildings were locked. Called phone number on contract and was told to take truck to second location. Second location was staffed with single individual with little apparent knowledge of why I was dropping off a U-Haul truck, even though the second location had several parked U-Haul trucks on their lot. The person taking possession of the truck did nothing to check the condition of the truck nor verify the moving dolly was in the back of the truck.
JOHN DThe first Haul place I went to on Hwy 23/74 at the Matress Godess, just outside Waynesville NC, (A Guy named Leo) was not a good experience. The he told me he would help me find a trailer and strung me along for over a day and did nothing and would not return my calls. Never called me back when he promised he would. I would never go back there to rent again. On the other hand, the dealer at Smokey Mountain Expressway (The Stop) was great. Angela Palmer there was very nice and extremely helpful. I will go back there again for any U Haul rental.
ARTHUR SThey did not have an appliance hand truck, just a one regular hand truck with flat tires. Air compressor did not work. Made me late and I had to pay workers an extra hour to wait on me. I pumped up the tires at a gas station and they were flat by end of trip. The girl was nice, but that made my move hard. I had only leased it to move one washer and dryer. I have put in a call to uhaul and I deserve some type of refund
