There is a serious problem with the UHaul iOS App. I tried 724 picking up and the app didn't work. Went on hold for 25 minutes before I left. Hours later finally got hold of someone on tech support who was a totally rude. She said the app works fine and then told me to use the website. I was short with her because I had wasted so much of my day and valuable time trying to get the app to work. Please for future customers, remove the pickup feature from the app until it is working correctly. The website version worked. The next person I spoke with when I bet back to the site the second time was great. The lock was sticky and difficult to open (#1) but eventually got it. She should have had more info about the lock a) turn the lever to the right. b) Push hard on the lever. It is a small lever for the amount of weight in lock parts it is moving. For a small lever I expected it to be spring loaded not a manual movement so wasn't pushing it hard enough. Call center rep didn't know how the lock moves. Truck was like new and while a bit dirty on exterior was as clean as expected and no issues given to me when returned.

The online booking was great, but the experience deteriorated when I had to wait over 45 minutes to actually pick up the truck. I had booked to pick the truck up at 9:00 am and didn't leave until closer to 10 am - very frustrating. I have booked with U-Haul a few times and my details were already in place online. The solution: 1. either provide more customer service staff at the point of pick-up, or 2. for repeat customers, like me, who have a solid track record with U-Haul, develop a way to streamline the pick-up process to be quicker.

The van itself was a very good vehicle. It had had something or even someone throw up in the cargo section. An attempted to clean it was apparent but the odor was quite strong other than that, very clean.

The wait time to get my vehicle was a little on the long side. I was not alone in this matter as others were complaining in the line up as well. However, the vehicle and the drop off were excellent.

I was on hold for 20 minutes the night before my rental date to make sure it wouldn't be a problem that the u-haul was under my information with my fathers drivers license as he would be the only driver. I asked if this would be a problem for pick up as my father was picking up for me. The lady I spoke with told me everything was fine as long as he had the reference number. When my father went to pick up this was a problem and took time that we did not have. I specifically called for this reason and was given the wrong answer. I am not impressed with the service we received.

Gas should be full tank when customers take the trucks. It was 3/4 for us and the clerk was insisting it’s a bit more than that I see and didn’t accept my reading or another judge but if was full like all other vendors then we wouldn’t disagree. He made me go back and put some more gas otherwise he said he will charge my credit 30 dollars more. I was really upset and the guy wouldn’t speak English well and I was tired after moving and didn’t want to stay more otherwise I shouldn’t pay more and should complaining to someone understand more and I won’t be U-Haul customer anymore. I reserved a 28' Van but when I arrived at 6:50 am I was told it was not available, therefore I had to make two trips = double the kms. at $0.99 per kilometre, and double the gas. Total extra cost about $45.

Vehicle was under a 1/4 of a tank when I picked it up and they even mentioned it to me but when I dropped it off they said they will charge me $30 because it was under 1/4 of a tank..... when I did drop it off the guy who took my keys parked the vehicle and left me standing there so I went inside... only to find out I could ya e done it all with the guy who took my keys but he told the guy inside I’m paying with a different card so I couldn’t get express check out... lies upon lies.... horrible place.

It turned out a very stressful and time crunching moving for us thanks to U-Haul. I originally booked a 20ft truck at North Vancouver location at 7:30pm (after hour) for 24 hours weeks ahead of the moving date. I made my trip over to the location from Vancouver by bike, only to find that I was not able to pick up the truck using my phone. So I called U-Haul and waited for over 20 minutes until someone finally answered; he explained that the truck that I reserved was not available due to a maintenance. How do you make a reserved vehicle out of service without notice? There were 4 more 20ft truck at the location but he said none of them were available for me because they are not registered to release for a 24/7 pickup (whatever) and the only location closest to there that they can have a truck for me was Coquitlam (which is over an hour away, by which time I was already behind our schedule). I biked back home without a truck, and had to ask one of our friends to come with me to drive to Coquitlam to pick up the truck. I was finally able to start loading about 2 hours behind our schedule and finished loading around 12am. We had to catch the first ferry to Nanaimo (6:25am) so we got up at 4:45am. We missed 2 hours of sleep because of the poor service and lack of communication to me that the truck was not available. On the way back, I called again and asked if I could return the truck at North Vancouver location. I was forwarded 4 times to different "departments" and NONE of them had an authority to do ANYTHING about this; saying that the contract was "local" which means I must return the truck to the location where I picked it up. Yes I agreed that I made a "local" contract with the North Vancouver location and I was happy to pick up and return the truck there. How do you expect the customer to oblige the contact when U-Haul broke their contract with the customer at the first place without notice? Please explain to me why I have to pay for the extra mileage of the truck and the price for the gas to travel between Coquitlam and North Vancouver because of your fault. We demand a compensation for the unreasonable overcharge. I want to let you know that we are deeply disappointed about the experience we had with U-Haul and the poor service where U-Haul had a chance but failed to recover this incident during the phone conversations with your representatives.

Hello, Regarding your branch at 2500 Barnet Hwy Coquitlam/Port Moody First I have to add that Andre Paiva, the manager was very nice when I contacted him with my complaint and he mentioned that he will follow up with my complaint. One of your staff Kristin was extremely rude and disrespectful and made me to spend $50 for gas that I should not have. At the pick up time a young nice gentlemen help me with registering me on my cell phone since it was my first time with your paperless system. He mentioned that in the contract the gas tank shows more than half where it was actually less than a quarter. So he took picture of actual number and apparently forgot to save it in my phone. He assured me that he took care of it. On the return, Kristin said that according to the contract you have to fill the tank. I called that gentleman and he confirmed when I present that it is in fact true that the gas tank didn't match the contract. Kristin after keeping me unnecessarily waiting come back and said that she doesn't care and if I don't want to get charged I need to fill the tank. I mentioned that I am not familiar with your system and one of your staff is a witness. I told her if you guys were doing your job right, then I didn't have to go through this. She aggressively said " if you want not to get charged, you go and get gas" and walked away. Her tone of voice and body language was very disrespectful. I watched her while waiting and her approach with others weren't that friendly either. She made me to pay $50 for gas that I didn't use. I thought U-Haul's priority is customer satisfaction and she has no customer service skills whatsoever. Thank you.
