shortly before I was scheduled to pick up my truck rental- I received a call saying that it wouldn't be available on the previously scheduled time. I had to wait 30 minutes for my truck to get there and another 30 minutes standing in line even though I had already booked everything online. This caused me to be over an hour late while I had Movers standing at my house waiting to load my furniture. Then when I stopped to put gas in the U-Haul truck, the engine would not turn on. I immediately called the store that I rented the truck from and was told that they weren't sure what to do. I ended up stranded at the gas station for almost 4 hours with all of my furniture loaded in the back of this truck. At no point was I offered for them to bring me another truck to transfer my furniture to. I had to make multiple phone calls to reach someone with corporate and ultimately had to wait for a mechanic to come and replace the starter. I was refunded the money I paid but offered no compensation for this major inconvenience. I had five people that I had paid to help me move just standing around waiting for me to arrive with all of the furniture. In addition, this delay caused me to miss my nephew's graduation dinner. Not a fun situation to have to deal with On Moving Day- I understand these things happen, but this location had no type of contingency plan for a broken down truck. I hope that moving forward, they are able to better help customers stranded in this situation.
