The web page didn't make it clear that I needed special electrical hardware to tow a trailer which I needed. Thus I show up online paper work done and it was a NO GO. then my only option (needed a ramp to move a motorbike) 15 ' cargo truck . So overkill to go 12 miles return. Computer at the desk had issues took over 20 minutes . WHOLE THING sucked.

The online rental system did not work. The debit/credit payment machine locked up and did not work

The truck felt like it was poor repair. The fact that there are charges for distance and the rate and which that is charged, is utterly savage. If there was more choice in the North Shore, I would not have bothered and experience would never bring me back to using your company.

A quick run-through of emergency procedure would be useful - 4-way stop indicators, parking brake functionality, interior lights, etc. Otherwise, services and attendants were excellent.

The equipment provided was an aged machine that leaked quite badly resulting in wet furniture. We have rented from U-Haul many times and this was the 1st time we were disappointed in our rental.

Mr. Robert Bailey was very efficient and adept at his task. I know how difficult this can be given the atmosphere is demanding but he took care of us very well and made sure we got a good cargo van. I think this gentleman is a real asset to U-haul. The gentleman outside who brought us our van was also wonderful. The van itself was excellent and clean. The overall experience was much improved from before. Previously the staff were rude and the manager difficult and defensive. This time, efficient and polite. Excellent experience.

Seems like Uhaul is trying to automate the system of check out with this new picture delivery system rather than reviewing the vehicle with a person. It is complicated and cumbersome and frankly very confusing. Staff had obviously been told to encourage customers to use this rather than helping. It is way worse than simple system that was in place before. It might make me think to go somewhere else. Counter staff were friendly and helpful.

Nothing, the team were excellent at both the check out and the check back in at the end of the rental. The van was almost new and was easy to drive and good on gas.

Make sure the vehicle is clean inside and out and reduce the kilometer charge. When the kilometer charge is more than the rental for the vehicle it gives the customer a bad experience.

Someone from customer service needs to call me right away. A major communication issue on your end came up from my last rental and completely disrupted my intended move. I have alway used U Haul and never had any problems in the past 604-700-9103 604-990-9955 Charlie thank you.

When I booked the van, I was told I could drop off after hours, but when I went to pick it up I was told I could not. This could have been problematic. It is important for all staff to know the accurate process. Thanks!

I was charged $50 for a cleaning fee. The sticker on the truck says save $25 by cleaning (or something to that effect. I started cleaning the truck with a hose and as I was creeping up to the due time I thought I'd let U-haul finish the clean for $25. I was told it would be a $50 clean fee - the $25 was a minimum- no discussion from the front desk clerk. The manager was unable to account where this policy was - only that "it ought to have been in the red contract enclosure" (which I did not receive). I went back online and saw that there is no policy of minimum cleaning fee and if you changed the terms and conditions between when I signed the online consent and when I picked up the truck there's a problem. Long story short, the manager was accommodating as he changed the charge to $25 (only after he could find no reference to "minimum" charge in the contract).. The sticker on the truck was apparently misleading. And just to be clear, the cleaning required would be a hose off.

This was our second time in two years renting a 20ft truck for 48hrs from this Uhaul location and we had a mixed experience all around. Overall I was satisfied, Uhaul is great value and their rates can't be beat. But you get what you pay for - the trucks tend to be older, higher mileage (ours had well over 100,000kms on it) and ride a little rougher. The staff were very friendly and helpful both in person and on the phone but after countless phone calls and in person experiences you can tell that staff tend to be undertrained and all of their systems and procedures (including truck availability) tend to be haphazard and it seems like they are constantly troubleshooting issues and guessing at how to solve problems. The truck they gave me had a passenger side mirror that had been knocked askew and if I hadn't done a proper pretrip and and adjusted it myself (there is minimal instruction given, they basically just hand you the keys) I would've been on a busy highway two blocks later with no ability to merge or turn right - huge potential liability issue that shouldn't have been missed. Bottom line, you get what you pay for with Uhaul and they are a rental experience best suited for those experienced with troubleshooting and who don't mind rough around the edges and would prefer saving money with lower expectations. I knew this going in and was satisfied overall, but just satisfied, nothing more.

I ended up buying a trailer light convertor which I am.not going to use at all. It would have been better if you guys had the rental option for the convertor for a third of the price.

Make contacting the location directly possible. I had a question that could only be answered by someone at the location. It took three calls and 2hrs (approx) before I spoke with someone. By the time I received a callback it was too late. There wasn't a bad result in the end but that's not what customer service is about.

Due to a problem at the ferries, I was unable to return the truck on time. I called the UHaul phone number but was unable to speak to anyone at the North Vancouver office to discuss the delay. I returned the truck the next day, and it was only then that I became aware that the North Van location provided for 24 hour returns. It would have been helpful if I had been provided with more information at the outset about the return process (though missing my designated time was my fault).
