I am writing to formally lodge a serious complaint regarding my recent 10-ft truck rental (Reservation #7346324) under the name . My account has been charged a final amount of $203.78 CAD for a 77-mile trip. I am requesting a substantial refund/compensation of this bill due to a severe vehicle structural defect that compromised both highway safety and my health. During my trip from Oshawa, the vehicle provided by OMS FOOD STORE (22741) had a major, unacceptable hardware issue: Severely Warped/Misaligned Driver-Side Door: Even when the door was fully closed, latched, and locked, there was a massive physical gap at the top between the door frame and the truck body. As proven in the attached photos image0.jpeg and image2.jpeg daylight was shining directly through the closed door. The gap was so wide that I could literally stick my hand through the opening from the inside while driving.I also recorded the roaring noise I heard while driving, as shown in the video Impact on Safety and Driving Experience: 1. Severe Safety Hazard: Driving a large commercial truck at highway speeds with a structurally compromised door that fails to seal properly is incredibly dangerous and terrifying. It created an unsafe environment and was a massive driving distraction. 2. Physical Distress: Because of this structural gap, the cabin experienced a deafening, roaring wind tunnel effect at high speeds. After hours of driving next to this extreme noise, I suffered from severe tinnitus (ringing) and a painful headache in my left ear/head, making the moving process an agonizing experience. U-Haul has an operational and legal responsibility to ensure that all rental fleets are well-maintained, structurally sound, and road-safe. This vehicle clearly failed to meet basic safety and quality standards. I have attached the photos of the massive door gap as irrefutable proof, and I have video recordings of the deafening highway wind noise available upon request. Given this terrible and hazardous experience, I request a meaningful refund on my rental and mileage charges. I look forward to your prompt investigation and swift resolution. I have clear photo evidence showing the daylight shining through the warped door gap, as well as odometer photos confirming the exact mileage. The back of the van was clean, the cab was not and had garbage left in it. You should check the entire vehicle when it is returned.
Gordon MHave the truck given to you with a full tank and then you return it with a full tank. Trying to guess how much gas to put in and how much the truck will use is impossible and expensive, especially with current gas prices.
