When I arrived they originally said they didn't have a rental for me, even though the online system let me schedule a trailer. Then they said they had one for me, hooked it up, and after driving 20 minutes I received a call asking me to return the trailer because there was something wrong with the one they gave me and they needed to switch it out. I took it back and as they were switching trailers, the employee told me that there was something wrong with the valve. When I returned it later that day, the owner thanked me for switching the trailer out because that one was scheduled to be taken out of town. So the employee earlier had lied when she told me there was something wrong with the trailer. It also added an hour to my day having to drive back to their location to change out the trailer. I was told I would receive a discount on my rental due to the inconvenience and then was never given one.

The time I needed the equipment was incorrectly my online reservation. I spoke with a person in scheduling to correct the time Friday afternoon before I picked up my equipment Saturday morning. Unfortunately when I picked up the equipment the time I need it was not updated. The person behind the counter wanted to argue, telling me I did not attempt to correct the time I need the equipment. I had to show him I spent two hour on the phone trying to correct the hours I need the equipment. I arrived at the location at 7:05 a.m. and did not leave until 8:25a.m. I had to hook up the trailer myself. Then practically beg for someone to check it so could leave. I understand it the end of the month but it is not good business to have customers wait for almost 1.5 hours. As one employee said “ u haul done worry about customer service the have the market cornered” It spend nearly 3 hours trying to schedule and pick up equipment.

Provide notification of change of pickup location. I had reserved a cargo trailer near my house but when I got there, I was told I had to go 30 min one way out of my way to pick it up. I had been reassigned to this store without being told.

These comments are more about UHAUL in general versus this location. Kurt, who I guess is the owner of the UHAUL location I was told to go to was awesome. He was extremely professional and very polite. I do have a complaint about the overall uhaul experience. I reserved a 10' truck a couple days before August 1st, I think it was on July 27th. I was also supposed to be able to pick it up at a much closer location to my loading address and then be able to drop it off at a much closer location to my unloading address. I was also supposed to be able to pick it up at 1000 hours versus 1515 hours. Well, Kurt calls me the day before around like 1700 hours and tells me that I can no longer go to my original location and that the Uhaul system has forced me to come to his location and pick up a 15' truck at 1515 instead of 1000 and he asks me if I want to confirm. I asked him to hold off on the confirmation and that I was going to call corporate to try and get it straight since I didn't need a 15' truck but did want the time that I specified. Called corporate customer service number and after about 50 minutes of being on hold I finally got to speak to someone just to have her tell me basically that this is how the system works and that I'm SOL. She was very professional too and easy to work with. I then tried to call the local number back to confirm and make sure I at least didn't lose my new reservation. I was on hold again for about 48 minutes just to have them transfer me to Raleigh, NC instead of Richmond, VA. Once I finally got to speak to someone in Richmond, she was also very professional and easy to work with, I finally confirmed the reservation. I guess the short version of this long story is that if it wasn't for Kurt honestly I would never consider Uhaul again. I get that this “reserving” system is kind of like the airlines. You can reserve but that doesn't guarantee anything and that it's kind of on a first come first serve basis depending on when you reserve but at least the airlines offer you a chance to pay in advance to actually “reserve” your seat. Why doesn't Uhaul offer this. Kurt explained to me that a lot of people reserve them and then don't show up that's why the system calls or texts and confirms the day before. I also get that Uhaul corporate probably doesn't want to charge people for not showing up because this could be seen as poor customer service and they might not choose Uhaul next time but I feel like there should be a better system in place. I moved out of my parents house in 2009 when I was 23 years old and always lived in an apartment. I moved every year like clockwork from apartment to apartment so that means I moved about 22 times. I used Uhaul every single time I moved. This experience with not having the “equipment” that I originally reserved left a terrible taste in my mouth. I may use Uhaul again whenever we sell this home and move somewhere else but it's solely because of Kurt and the two ladies I spoke to on the phone. There needs to be a better system in place so that it does not happen to other people. What if the help I had coming for the move was not flexible on when they could show up? I checked the weather before hand and wanted the equipment in the morning so that I didn't get rained on. Thankfully the rain held off long enough but what if it hadn't and because of the reserving issue, it was raining the entire time. I mean don't get me wrong I'm a nobody in the big scheme of life and even those 22 or 23 moves is a fraction of a fraction on what Uhaul brings in just monthly in revenue. I understand all of this. I also feel like a billion dollar company should have a better system in place to ensure that things like this don't happen. Thanks for reading this, whoever you are, if you actually made it all the way down here and thanks again to Kurt and those two ladies without them this review would have been totally different.

Only issue i had was the passenger side of the trailer had a flat tire. I did not know this until I got my vehicle on the trailer. So I had to remove my truck from the trailer go and find a gas station with air. Fill up the tire. Go back and re-place my truck on the trailer before I could leave. That was a huge inconvenience for me and held me up at least 45-60 min. I told the agent when I got back and they kind of shrugged me off. That was Unprofessional in my opinion.

Very poor service. The franchise manager/owner acted like he was doing me a favor by allowing me to rent a truck. UHaul gave me the run-around trying to find a truck for me. I ended up driving about 150 miles to get my truck and wasted half a day doing so.

Very displeased with the whole experience. Booked a location that was convenient to me.. Got a call saying the location was switched & they were lowering mileage by 20 cents. That's perfectly fine. Used the truck, called to see if I can return truck to same location I originally booked it... Can't do that unless I want to pay double. So you can't let me drop off the truck at the location I ORIGINALLY booked it for, without making me pay double. Very rude customer service. Will not recommend or use this company in the future.

The service was great although the truck had a fail odor. Dont know if the truck was truly inspected before the rental but it really needs to be disinfected to get rid of the bad smell. Thank you.

Main point of contact reached out to me the day prior to ensure I was on time or if I required any extra time, also helped locate his location as I was unfamiliar with the area. Once there I pulled in and his team removed the trailer and emailed my receipt and I was on my way. Quick and easy with friendly service.


No place to comment on Helper Service - PLEASE READ - I requested load help for 2 hours, they texted me for address etc info & confirmed ok. NO SHOW. I called when they were 1/2 hr late & continued trying to reach, no contact. They DID charge me. Recommend you remove them from your list- Moving Help. Com, Phoenix, Az, 804-539-3242. Had tried later to contact them by text/ phone both not available. ????

The Uhaul app does not work as well as it should. It will loop you about when doing vehicle return through the app. Very frustrating!
