Appt scheduled to pick up trailer at 4 PM. Arrive at 4:45 and trailer was not on lot north there any other trailers. Worker made a call to someone and I was told the trailer would arrive within 15 minutes. The trailer did arrive within 20 minutes, and then we had to wait additional time for them to check out and release the trailer. No apologies were made, and the worker told me he did not have time to clean the trailer out which is comprised of sweeping the trailer. I was under a very strict deadline and took the trailer home to find a floor was black with health and I had to clean it before I could place anything on it. Other than that, it was a typical U-Haul experience. My husband and I have used U-Haul numerous times as we move around the country for his job. This was by far the least professional.

I have been a repeat customer with Uhaul for about 15 years. Over the last 15 years I have come to learn the basic procedures that most employees at Uhaul follow. On Monday February 19, 2018 a red flag went up for me as I was registering for the truck rental. All seemed standard with providing my drivers license, credit card and excepting the insurance option. Often the employee will go out with me as a customer to inspect the truck or suggest that I inspect the truck to confirm that there is no damage that had not been noted from previous rentals. The step was not done. I mentioned this to the employee helping me, who identified herself as the manager [Lyda Alvarez] at 2701 N Wilson Way, Stockton, CA 95205, and she informed me that since I agreed to the insurance option this step was not necessary. I didn’t question it as I understand procedures can change, however once I was in the truck I noticed things I would consider, not up to basic Uhaul standards. 1. The seat belt appeared to work, however the housing was damaged making it difficult to secure the seatbelt. 2. The Oil Light was on, and I had to bring this to the attention on the manager [Lyda Alverez]. 3. The bed of the truck, I discovered when I arrived at my destination, was dirty due to a previous customer appearing to have used the truck to haul garden debris, with leaves and dirt still in the back of the truck I had rented. I would have returned it however I was under a time restraint. 4. With a 27ft dirty truck loaded with white furniture I began to drive the truck from Stockton to Lodi, which I made clear to the manager where I was going and how many miles I would drive, as neared my destination the truck began to stall out on me. I was able to restart it and proceed to my destination. The gas gage indicated that the truck still had a substantial amount of gas. After unloading the truck, I proceeded to drive the truck from Lodi back to Stockton and the truck stopped on me about 5 to 6 times in the middle of dark roads. I called the Uhaul road service [the text message on my cell phone has a time stamp of 12:37A.M. for a Uhaul GPS Locator] and explained the situation. I was able to start the truck at about 1 A.M. and drive it to the 7701 Tam O'Shanter Dr, Stockton, CA 95210 location, where I left it overnight. The next morning, I returned to the location where I rented the truck, 2701 N Wilson Way, Stockton, CA 95205 and the Manager rented me a [comp] smaller truck to use to transfer a few items that I had remaining in the back of the first truck. Upon returning to the 7701 Tam O'Shanter Dr, Stockton, CA 95210, which has a mechanics shop. One of the shop mechanics [Greg Frazier] informed me that the truck had a defective fuel sending unit and that the truck was out of gas when it was rented to me, ever though it still was showing that there was gas in the truck. When I returned the [comp] truck to the 2701 N Wilson Way, Stockton, CA 95205 and tried to explain the proble

Staff here are always quick, efficient and friendly. The rental process here always goes smoothly. The equipment at this location is better maintained and cleaner than the smaller dealers. I go out of my way to come to this location whenever I need anything. Keep it up!

I wish I was able to talk to the manager about a non profit discount. The other staffers indicated we needed to contact manager. Otherwise everyone friendly. We left the truck without gas then when we picked it up.

Lack of available truck/ trailer within 30 miles for one way rental. Scheduling Dept. had wrong information on available trailer at closer location. Drop off location only had one worker for a Saturday morning. He was overwhelmed. Took 20 minutes to check in trailer.

The staff at pick-up was very polite and helpful, it was nice doing business with them. The problem is with the corporate level and their reservation service. They do not listen and will not garentee you can get the equipment you want from any locations near you. They wanted to send us some 20 plus miles away. So it required us changing our plans and what we used. This management service leaves allot to be desired.

At first I tried to do the express checkout using my iPhone but the process was taking so long, that I decided to shift instead to having my checkout of the vehicle process by the store counter staff. It was much faster with the U-Haul staff in front of me face to face helping me.

Not the locations fault but we had reserved a trailer in Turlock, Ca but when we got the reservation had to go to Modesto. The morning we were supposed to pick up the trailer they did not have one and had to go to Stockton which is about an hour each way from where we live. Not a happy customer.

Personnel at this location were efficient, kind. and helpful. We had a nightmare experience at The U-Haul storage location in Stockton on Tam O‘Shanter. After renting us a storage unit with blue rat poison all over the floor we left the Shanter location; driving to & renting at the Manteca location right before closing. They did a bait and switch the following day, calling & offering to give us one days credit for causing us to turn in the truck late due to not having a storage unit. We drove to Mabteca, planning to rent, where Akejandro was extremely nice. Chris from O‘Shanter called offering to rent us a clean storage unit with 1 day truck credit. They gave us the same dirty unit but has swept up the rat poison. They took forever with each new customer & the women working there were very rude, particularly the taller woman. We both had no sleep from the stress & missing our $500 flight. My partner lost his key to get out. They refused his calls from his phone & their emergency button on the keyed entry. When he finally got out they charged $5.00 for a new plastic entry card. When we got to Wilson Way to turn in the truck they had NOT even given us the day‘s $40 credit. Kristine at Wilson Way efficiently & kindly returned our truck & gave us 2 day‘s credit. At O‘Shanter Chris claimed he was only allowed to credit us 1 day. Use Wilson Way & Manteca but avoid Tam O‘Shanter location. My partner & I are both veterans & West Point graduates. Beware veterans of the Tam O’Shanter location.,

I was not given my Driver's Lic back, it was left on the counter. It would have been great to have received a call or email letting me know about it. It wasn't until I called the next day to inquire about dropping off the truck that the rep told me I had left my driver's lic on the counter. For this reason, I gave you only below average ratings.
