My confirmed reservation pick up location was for Tallahassee and included a truck and toy hauler however the day before pick up I received a call from Crawfordville asking me to pick up a truck and auto trailer from them. Not only was this location different but the type of trailer was incorrect. I called the main Uhaul phone number and was told to go to Thomasville Georgia. I called the location to be certain they had what I reserved and the number was no longer in service. So I drove 45 minutes the day before I was to pick up the truck and trailer. The owner was walking out the door for a week vacation and his business was closed with no possibility of me picking up my equipment the following day. He was very kind and opened his business back up to help me. I not only had to rent this equipment a day early but had to drive out of my way twice. If I had not gone to check a day early I would have arrived on the date I requested to a closed business and nowhere to rent what I needed. I never received a call indicating that Tallahassee did not have a toy hauler. The customer service representative blamed me. I have always used Uhaul and find this situation totally unacceptable. The man in Thomasville was a blessing and the truck and trailer got me to Idaho without any problems. I do not feel I should be charged for extra mileage because it was no fault of my own that I had to travel extra miles inorder to pick up my truck. I also think I should be reimbursed for my troubles and gas due to the fact that the beginning of my trip was very complicated and stressful because Uhaul did not communicate with me leading up to my reservation date that I made a month before my trip was to begin.
