Trailer not hitched properly - came off and drug on road 20 miles from rental location. Luckily no damage to tow vehicle or others on road. Existing crack in hitch coupler was not fixed prior to rental - unsafe. Rental contract was incorrect - showed return to same location, though they verbally told me I was to drop it off at another location out of state. Had to make multiple calls to fix this and return trailer. Trailer itself had numerous unmarked damaged spots, graffiti, and failing seams that would likely have leaked had it rained. I was told on phone that they could provide wiring kit for connecting car to trailer, but upon arrival found that they did not sell those. Rent here only if you are ready to double-check everything yourself and take responsibility for your own safety.Bob B.
Confirmed reservation with Uhaul Moving & Storage, Erie PA, was changed by them without ever speaking to me. Was sent email evening before notifying me changing location of pickup, change to a larger trailer(extra axle more toll cost), and pick up time 2hrs later adding time to an already long trip. Problem being I do not look at email often( especially after having received confirmation of my reservation). They used the email as an excuse to rent my trailer to someone else! They know you need their service and they take advantage of that. Poor way to treat your customers. People at Retro was great where I was sent by Erie place.ronald W.
My only recommendation would be to have someone from Uhaul contact someone, sooner than 48 hours, to notify them they will have to pick up their vehicle from a further distance.Patrick B.

Uhaul was very dirty upon pick up. No straps in uhaul and some of the boards were broken to hook up furniture. Smelly truck. Must have had a smoker in it before. Slow with the processjulie N.
Roof leaked all over my stuff. Car dolly ratchet binder straps were rusted shut. Took me 25 minutes to lubricate to get to work. Chain was rusted rubber secure straps we ride it out electrical line for trailer Dolly head short fuel mileage was horrendousDavid H.
U-Haul let me know that my first location would be replaced by a second in Erie PA. Problem: the second location was holding the next larger trailer (for the same price), a 6X12. I had requested a 5X8. I was not able to confirm on line since I was away from a PC and do not pay the price for a "smart" phone. The txt message I received did not have any contact info for the second location......rather INCONVENIENT and worrisome. I called the Erie location to confirm and that is when I found out about the different sized trailer. My requested location, initially, was able to give me the phone number of the second location. That location provided me with the Pittsburgh U-Haul traffic center. That center, though not telling me, transferred me to next U-Haul employee, Keegan in Erie. Keegan, was able to find the 5X8 in Union City and modified my reservation. Thanks to Keegan. The rest of my rental experience went with no bumps in the road.Eric M P.

Returned the van exactly where and how they instructed me to return it. it was saturday after hours, we did with the key what we were told to do, and yet on Monday morning i received a message on my phone asking me where the van was that we rented. Imagine my heart when the place i rented from leaves me a message that they don't know where the vehicle i rented is??? I called the the store i rented it from and no one answered. however i called uhaul and was told that it was returned. Yet... I never received a message from the place that i rented it from, apologizing or explaining the phone call. That was just wrong.Brenda C.
I was told by two customer reps on the phone that this location was our nearest after hours drop off location. There was not a secured drop box to leave the key. I spent over half an hour on the phone with Uhaul and left two messages on Hopper's answering machine. Uhaul said that I could leave the key unsecured, but that would be my responsibility. We left the truck, but not the key. I had to make a special trip to Hopper's two days later when they finally opened. I have left two messages for the regional manager to call me and it has been three days and haven't received a call yet. I spoke with Chris Gorman and several reps and was HIGHLY UNSATISFIED with the customer service! We paid good money for the convenience of Uhaul and it was far from convenient!!! WE WILL NEVER RECOMMEND UHAUL TO ANYONE EVER!! PS Still waiting for a call from a regional manager or their manager!!RICK C.
