The cargo door for the box truck that I rented was poorly maintained and malfunctioned during my use of it. The wire spools holding the door up snapped while I was attempting to close it and I received a severe laceration to my right index finger. I had to leave the truck on the street with all my belongings that I had loaded into it with the door stuck open while I went to the emergency room to get stitches. I was there for 5 hours, I called U-Haul customer service to let them know what happened and they sent someone to fix the door while the truck was still parked on the street. I left the ER at around midnight and went back to the truck to drive it to where I was moving my things, as soon as I opened the door to unload everything, the door had broken again. The wires became unspooled once more and the door would not stay open. I had someone hold the door open while others helped unload everything, after that I called U-Haul customer service again and this time they sent a tow truck to take the truck away, by the time everything was finished it was 3am.

This is the best service ever I got in U-Haul
PAVEL BFor my reservation I had requested an in-person pickup. The reservation pickup was changed a few days before pickup and that was fine since I was alerted by text. I showed up at that place and I was told that my reservation was changed again and had to drive across town for pickup. When I arrived at the building, no one was there. I called the number on the reservation and the person answering very abruptly said hello, someone will call you and that was it. I waited over 20 minutes and no one reached out to me. I then called U-haul customer service. While on the phone with them, I got a call from someone at the pickup after 35 minutes. They said that they didn't have the moving blankets that I paid for and gave me a lock code for the keys. Upon starting up the 15ft U-haul the tank was left on empty. I have had no problems with my U-haul rentals previously and I expect minimal things from Uhaul, the truck to be at the location which they say it's at, to have the items that I per-paid for, and to have a vehicle with gas in it. U-haul and this location failed on all 3 of these. This location was so poorly run, it should not be an option.
Michael DI am not happy with service from where I first did the reservation. Witch is the UHAUL on 8500 Sepulveda Blvd, North Hills, CA 91343 This location I DO NOT recommend it for making reservations. My husband specifically told the guy to make the reservation for pick up on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 and drop off on Wednesday May 14th, 2025 cause it was a 2hr move and not a local or next City move. I wasn't able to make the payment online so I had to call the guy at the North Hills location and do everything by phone since I had to call him right before they close. And so I did everything by phone but he (I forgot his name) never told me that as soon as you pay for the truck, your 24hrs starts at that moment until we finish the reservation and saw everything on my email. I couldn't pick it up at 5pm when I was at 2hrs away from that location and plus I had to be moving in the night, witch is not what I wanted and that's why I requested to pick it up at 6am on Tuesday May 13, 2025. By that time I couldn't call back cause the were close and no one will pick up the phone. And so I proceeded with picking up the truck and than I passed the 24hrs cause the place for the returned was closed and I need it a person to inspect the truck to make sure that everything was ok. So I ended up paying more $$ for those extra hours. I hate this cause I felt is a trick that the company or workers do. NOT HAPPY WITH THE RESERVATION THAT WAS MADE, everything else it was ok!
