I messed up and went to the wrong location thinking it was the Allston location - I was obviously incorrect, but the guy who helped me at the desk was able to transfer the rental and my time-sensitive pickup was no longer in jeopardy. Big thanks to the dude! I don't remember his name, but he had freckles.

When we went to this location, the person at the front desk told us we signed up for the self check in, the website and app were then not working and this same guy would not help us. Employees were also hanging outside on there phones and were not very helpful in the entire process. I understand the app/self check in is supposed to be quicker and easier but it was not

I rented a 9' van for an in-town move. It was provided with a "full" tank, which showed a little below the full line; close enough that I wasn't concerned. I drove the van 18 miles and put a few bucks of gas in it at the gas station next door- the amount it took before shutting off the pump. The gauge again showed a tiny bit below the full line. I returned the van after hours without a problem. I received my emailed bill a few days later which unfortunately included a $5.63 charge for "EZ Fuel Sales." I contacted the GM who assured me that the van was merely 15/16 full. I provided a picture of the gas gauge with the needle touching the full line but Riordan would not be swayed. Fortunately, this tale has a happy ending. The fine folks who manage the U-Haul customer service twitter handle (@uhaul_cares) were very responsive. They agreed with my understanding of fractions and are providing a refund. TLDR; Watch your bill for sneaky fuel charges. The folks at @UHaul_Cares are very helpful.

The front desk service was quite good. My complaint was with the equipment. The truck was way too loud both empty and full. Initially I had to get out of the truck to check the latch because it sounded like it had come open. The noise could be heard both inside the truck & outside-a friend was following me. It was quite nerve wracking to drive the truck!

I rented a 10 foot truck and a car trailer. I went in person to make my reservation. I wish they had told me that they did not have trailers at this location. I had to go in the opposite direction to much father uhaul to get my trailer.

The truck had numerous scrapes and dents. They were mostly cosmetic and had no real impact on my rental as long as it was clear that I was not the cause of them, but the loose fairing below the bumper may have decreased my mileage somewhat.

The location was not the one preferred and it had me go over mileage because I had to drive a further distance back to my own home from the uhaul destination.

My first recommendation would be for someone on site to be able to answer the phone. Unfortunately, I called multiple times to arrange my UBox unloading and never got a call back, because the employee who handles this area was on vacation. When I went to unload the box onsite it took the UHaul employees 1 1/2 hours to find the box. The employees on site where very helpful, and pleasant to work with. However, it has been two days since I unloaded the box, and I recently received an email asking to pay my next month's storage bill. They have not yet closed out my account, despite the fact the UBox is empty, and I was told I was all set to have my account closed. Unfortunately my overall UHaul moving experience has been terrible, and I will not use UHaul again for future moving needs.

They could not check in the vehicle because there was no record that I had one. They asked me to call customer service. After an hour and 20 minutes I was finally able to check the vehicle in and leave. A laughable experience.

I had a great experience with U-haul for my van rental. The only negative point was the $10 flat fee added to the cost of renting a van when they are advertised as $19.99/day. The total cost of a 4-hour rental did not make me want to do the same in the future.
