The location at which I reserved equipment was unable to fulfill my reservation. I was notified of this only a couple of days before I was due to pick up my equipment. They were able to find me what I needed but the change in location more than tripled my mileage (short, in-town move). I asked about a discount equal to the extra mileage charge but was refused. I was put off when, as explanation of why the equipment would not be available, I was told, "It's not our fault someone dropped off the truck in a different location!" To which I wanted to say, "Correct, but neither is it my fault. So why will I be the one paying to make up the difference?" In the end everything worked out, the equipment was great, the pick up and drop off were smooth, I have no complaints about the actual pick up location, the staff, or the equipment. But my experience was already tainted by the reservation process and the added mileage that I had to pay for. I would suggest that when reserved equipment is not available at the preferred location that a discount be offered equal to the charge for travel between the preferred location and actual location. If Uhaul wishes to go above and beyond in customer care they should also offer recompense for the additional gas burned due to the increased distance.

While the service good, the equipment was not at all satisfactory. It’s an really old vehicle with 152000+ miles. The driving experience was scary. The wheel alignment was off. Steering was aligned to left (vehicle drives straight when the steering is in slightly left turned position). Couldn’t get the side mirrors to adjust correctly.

Our reservation for the truck, which we reserved a week earlier, had to be cancelled and we had to be processed as a walk-in customer due to computer problems. This took 20 minutes. Also, after we returned the truck, we were told we'd get our receipt via email. That did not happen and I had to call the location to get the receipt.

The truck bed and ramp were very oily and rendered the ramp unusable and required us to wipe the bed down so to not dirty our furniture (some furniture still got oily). The job still got done, but it was not convenient at all and required everyone to be very cautious when loading and unloading furniture. I would highly recommend a more thorough inspection of the equipment and a better cleaning job done on the vehicles. On the flip side, the customer service was good and the staff helpful and nice.
