Called at 4:30 to confirm that I could return after hours with no charge. Employee confirmed so; however, my rate was doubled upon check-in.

From the lady at the counter who processed my rental request, to the guy who help me pull the trailer to my hitch, to the guy who fixed my after-hours drop-off error, all helped make this a great experience. I only regret that I did not get/remember their names.

Original location for pickup gave my rental away before I got there. Was sent to another location 30 mins away. Got there and they had computer problems. Took an hour to complete the contract. Trailer had a broken fender that I had to duct tape it back together bc they didn't have another one available. Truck was a POS. Check engine light was on the entire time. Brakes were shot. So were the bearings which made for a horrible road trip. Truck also overheated at one point and I had to pour 2 gallons of water in the rad overflow to keep going. White smoke blowing the whole time, prob a blown head gasket. Worst uhaul experience ever
uhaul was smelly but clean. Was working great for the day then when it was time to take it back , it wouldn't pick up speed on the highway causing us to move under the speed limit, check engine light came on too ! very scary and I could've died. Employees did not care, charged us full price and a extra $6 for gas when we barely made it to the gas station without dying. DO NOT purchase uhaul for BATTLEFEILD location in chesapeake.
Drop off was a breeze, took less than 10 minutes, East Coast has also been the go to location for UHaul in my area. Great team at East Coast!!
Rental pickup time was 7:00 am. I received a phone message from someone at U-HAUL confirming that time and was told I could pick it up 1 hour earlier or later than 7:00. Arrived at the location on to find out that they do not open until 8:00 am. I lost one on my moving helpers due to the delay. Very disappointed.

This was the first time I did a 24 hour drop off with no persons there. The on-line U Haul web site directions worked very well getting pictures of trailer for any possible damage and taking pictures after unhooked.

Tale of two facilities. The folks at East Coast are very indifferent towards renters. Do not have any sense of obligation. I ordered a vehicle more than a month in advance only to find out days before that nothing would have been available had I not stopped in four days prior to check up. The mature woman who works there verges on rude by her indifference. She was never concerning nor helpful. When I picked up the truck, the manager never went to the vehicle with me. He placed the bags of ordered blankets near the door and left it to me to check out my truck and load the bags. Again, did not seem appreciative of my business. On the flip side, I had the occasion to work with Lisa and Tracy from the transportation center. They listened to my concerns over my specific need to pick up at the East Coast L&G facility. Even went so far as to make arrangements for someone to travel out of state and pick up a truck, take it to East Coast, so that it would be there for me. This team definitely has the customer interests top of mind. Without their diligence my experience would have been a nightmare. I appreciate everything that this district/region office did for me as a customer. They are a 10+.
Our truck keys were still locked in the overnight key drop and it took the employee a long time to get them out. I wasn't even sure that was the truck we were supposed to get since it had not been checked.
Arrived at drop location at opening. Only one person working, however checkout as quick.
The rental process was a bit confusing in way of the rental cost it kind of hits you at the end of tally, plus paid with cash, and had a 100.00 deposit which I had to try and get back from the location of returning truck, inwhich I was put down for the wrong location after telling the man exactly where I was returning tge truck, Im still waiting on my 100.00 deposit through the mail.
We are repeat customers. We reserved for 24 hours, but ended up extending the truck rental another 48 hours. We called the location and asked when they closed. We were told 5:30 p.m. If we returned the truck after they were closed to pull it into the adjoining lot and drop the keys in the drop-box. When we received our final bill, there was a $20 Late Fee Return charged. I called to inquire, and was told that was because WE DID NOT CHECK IN VIA PHONE APP WHEN WE DROPPED OFF THE TRUCK! Are you kidding me!!! I was then told the verbiage is in the contract and they were not going to refund the fee, as it was U-Haul policy to charge that fee and I would have to contact the Corporate Office to have it reversed. First of all, we were not told we needed to do that when we called to inquire about returning the truck after hours. Second, what if someone didn't have cell phone? I know many people who do not have cell phones, nor use any apps, but we are MANDATED to use an app to return a U-Haul Truck otherwise we are charged a $20 Fee! We will NOT be using this location ever again. And frankly, if that fee is not reversed we will NOT be using U-Haul again -- there are too many other companies we could use. Outstanding service. The technician in back hooked up the trailer and checked it out to make sure all the signals (brakes, and turn signals) worked properly. I returned the trailer a day early. Turn in was quick and easy, and the rep automatically deducted the extra day from the bill. Very honest and efficient. I DEFINITELY will use this place for future U-Haul rentals and highly recommend them to anyone who asks. Fantastic experience!
Didn't seem very knowledgeable. Did not have the appliance dolly I rented and didn't seem interested in trying to solve the problem. I had to locate one at a store, 10 miles away and go there. Then was charged a second time for the rental. On top of that I had to pay for the extra miles it took me to get what I should have gotten in the first place. The truck was not well maintained or very clean. Hard to start. My entire experience was bad and prevented me from making the scheduled appointment to pick up the item I needed the truck for. I called customer service to levy my complaint. There solution was to refund me the fee for the dolly that I should not have been charged because I didn't receive it and only after I continued to state my dissatisfaction was I offered a refund on the extra 10 miles I drove to secure a dolly. I am very unsatisfied with the service and the response to what turned out to be a problem on your end that cost me time and money.
