The process of renting the U-haul was easily and the staff were friendly. However, I only needed the truck for Saturday. The staff told me I would need to pick up on Friday because they were closed on Saturday. When I asked Dean about the time, he told me to pick it up before 5 because he can’t have overtime and he would review the cameras for the return time and adjust since I only needed the truck Saturday. I picked the keys up on Friday, but did not get the truck until Saturday morning, which was discussed. I returned the truck Saturday evening. On Monday, I called, as instructed, to advise them I had to make a second trip so I needed to confirm what the additional amount to be paid was. I was told Dean was out of the office and I would receive a call later in the day. When Dean called me, he advised me I was charged for an additional day because I signed the contract and picked up the keys on Friday at 4:30 and didn’t return the truck until Saturday after 4:30. I argued that did not make sense since he was the one who told me to pick it up on Friday, and I only got the keys and picked the truck up on Saturday. He acted like he was not the one who had the original conversation with me and simply stated that since I signed the contract on Friday, I was charged for an additional day by U-Haul and there was nothing he could do. I have paid the bill, I did exactly what was asked of me to rent the truck, I returned the truck with the correct amount of fuel, upon the return of the truck, I parked it in front of the office so I knew the cameras would see me return it and what condition it was in, I called on Monday to inquire about paying for the additional miles so I clearly don’t mind paying for the services I used. However, I think it is important for U-Haul to know that when Dean tells someone something and then does not hold to his word, he is blaming U-Haul for his lack of integrity. We live in a rural community and I will absolutely not be using U-Haul services again if this is the type of behavior that is condoned.

I was told on the phone that I would be charged 1day rental for the weekend as long as it was back on their lot by Monday morning. When I went to pick up the dolly I was told I would have to pay for every day I had it. I needed it for Saturday, but they are not open for business during the weekend. Insurance was also added without my right to refuse the insurance. I was charged 105m dollars when I had rented a dolly and transported a similar vehicle for 49 dollars. By telling me on the phone I would be charged one day I had already told the dealership I would be there just before they closed on Friday. I didn't have time to go to another dealer. They would not honor what they told me. I was overcharged 55dollars and they tried to force me to take a trailer saying that I couldn't pull the dolly with my truck. I explained that I had used a dolly with this vehicle just a few months prior. I was finally given the dolly but had to have it back the next morning I only needed it for a 25-mile trip but the person I got the vehicle from was only there sat evening. I consider this treatment bait and switch as for as adding insurance without giving a right to refuse it, is just wrong. Also, I am a senior and this makes me more likely to being cheated.
