Truck was absolutely filthy, there was dog hair, mud in the front, and rice, dirt and oil stains in the back. Resulting in me wasting precious hours on cleaning a truck that could've been cleaned any number of days ago, but due to severe incompetence lack of respect; Kean Auto, failed to deliver a customer ready truck/equipment to a valuable customer. After this appalling experience I am most disgusted in the way Kean conducts business on behalf of U-haul. I don't believe I'll ever be renting a uhaul truck ever again!

counter staff were great , the interior and exterior of the van were dirty van had transmission issues and wouldnt shift when accelerator was pushed , and over all the ,I rent car truck and vans regularly experience of renting from uhaul was disappointing

Actually this is the first time in 40 years that I've rented a truck. No problems: everybody efficient and helpful at the three different locations plus the lower mainland office that I talked to.

Very friendly and helpful reception, but even before I drove away I noticed (and mentioned) that the transmission indicator did not show which gear I was in (as in, D, 3, 2, or 1). I discovered as soon as I was on the main road that it was not shifting; my guess is it was stuck in 2nd gear, because at about 40 km/hr the motor was over 3,000 revs. I had only about 6 km to travel, so I stuck with it. If I had needed to go down the highway I would have returned it. After my first pickup stop, the truck was then stuck in obviously 1st gear, because I could only achieve 30 km/hr with the engine at about 3,500 revs. and I was holding up traffic. I managed to get to a hill and coast down, so I was at about 60 km/hr, then dropped it back into drive and I think I got 3rd gear. After reaching my goal and before returning the truck it was back in 2nd gear. We got our task done, but a novice driver would not have been able to do it (I have some trucking experience). My 43 yr old son said right away, "Yep, that's U-Haul for you - their equipment is worn out and they only patch it." Whether his statement is true or not, that is the reputation he perceives for U-Haul. For me it's hard to believe they didn't know about the truck's condition; who last used it?



While I have rated the listed location as excellent my overall experience was absolutely disappointing. My original rental was at an alternative location where I waited for over 2.5 hours, ultimately the location never opened and all customers waiting (over 10 of us) were trying to make alternative arrangements. I will never rent from that location ever again and I will think very seriously about ever renting from U-Haul again as a result of my experience. Ultimately I wasted half a day in just picking up the truck which should have been a 15 minute task, particularly given I had reserved under the mobile pickup option.

Just on a PR note: Wish you has waived the 12miles extra for the approximate $50 worth of gas over the original amount I left with . The contract is clear on this subject - but the waiving of 12 miles would have been a nice touch. Thank you.

When I arrived the trailer I had ordered and confirmed, a 4x8, was not available due to a left signal not working. I then had no choice but to take a 5x10 trailer to Edmonton . The trailer cost more than the original, and the increase in trailer weight and size increased fuel costs and ferry costs. I do not feel it was fair that I had to pay the extra costs of the rental when it was your fault that the original trailer was not available. Please reply Stephen Klein

Access to the parking lot was closed off creating some confusion. We were told to just drop off the trailers on the road and were not issued a receipt at the time.......made us a bit concerned until we received the e-receipt.

Wash exterior and interior ... not just remove garbage from previous renter of truck and clean bugs off windshield but rest of truck full of bugs from previous renter

All went ok but 2 things...1 the truck has a front end issue..going thru curves it would...jump..then come bqck to track thru the should be looked at. The second was the drop off location was not in business anymore. so i had to take the truck to Humbolt. All woked out ok and was taken care of but things should be kept up to date computer wise about dealers

Google gives many locations for U-Haul in Courtenay. I drove to two locations that had signs but had closed or moved wasting time and gas which was infuriating. A drop off location must be stipulated for Courtenay when the contract is made. Someone should get on Google and remove past locations.

My experience with uhaul was terrible, quite frankly. 2 days before the pick up day I had reserved a month earlier, I called to confirm my reservation and was told the 15 foot truck I had reserved would not be there. The customer service agent at the mcphee avenue location I originally booked through was rude, and told me "I was stressing him out" by inquiring about what I am supposed to do without the truck I had booked. The only alternative he could offer me was 26 foot truck - which would have cost me an extra 70 dollars on the ferry and more in gas. He was not helpful, he began to talk over me and essentially yelled at me and tried to resist giving me his name when I asked for it and called customer service Customer service was slightly less rude but still couldnt solve my problem other than to suggest I drive to a pick up location an hour and a half away to get a truck that STILL wasn't the one I reserved. No one ever told me I wasn't guarenteed my reservation location or vehicle. It was honestly unacceptable. I ended up with a 4 by 8 foot trailer and paid more (somehow??) Than I would have for the 15 foot truck and had to leave things I wanted to bring behind because I just didn't have the space. Very disappointing.
