Although I thought the location - by which, I mean the proprietor of the small gas station that served as the pick-up spot - was disappointing, I also have an issue with U-Haul itself. I made all the arrangements for my truck rental using the U-Haul app, but when I got to the location - with my confirmation number - it was as if I had just walked in off the street to rent a truck. I had to restate all the information I had entered into the app. I had specifically reserved a 15-foot truck, which was much bigger than what I needed to move the large, wheeled mechanic's toolbox (fully loaded with tools) to a garage, but that's the smallest truck with a ramp that U-Haul offers. When the proprietor pointed to a smaller vehicle on the lot, and I asked him if it had a ramp, he said NONE of the trucks at his location had a ramp. However, I went outside and looked at the 15-foot truck on his lot, and sure enough, there was a ramp. I got in that truck and started it to check the mileage, and I took a picture, which also included the gas gauge, which was at a bit less than three-quarters of the tank. I showed that to the proprietor, and he said just return the truck with the gauge at the same level. The truck itself was fine, and on my way back to the location after my 16-mile round trip, I stopped and put in two gallons of gas and got a receipt. I checked the gauge and it was essentially at the same level when I picked up the truck, maybe a tiny bit higher. I took a picture of the odometer and gas gauge when I dropped off the truck. I was happy I had done that when I received my receipt from U-Haul that evening, because I saw that a $35.00 gas charge was applied! I called U-Haul - which was annoying that I had to that - and I ended up having to send the before and after photos to the agent who was helping me (who, I should add, was great). She removed that charge for me. My takeaways from this experience are that U-Haul needs to ensure that their remote location operators know more about the trucks they have on their lots; that the remote locations must have all the information the renter includes in the app reservation; and that renters take pictures of the odometer and gas gauge at both ends of the trip, keep gas receipts, and carefully read their final invoice.

MUHAMMAD ZI selected in person check in and when I arrived at the location I was informed that the representative was not there so I had to modify my reservation outside in the cold to do a mobile check in. The Uhaul seats were dirty and the back truck area for putting stuff was dirty. I had to put a tarp down to feel comfortable putting my stuff in there. Lack of customer service and dirty vehicle made the experience unhelpful
ASHLEY GI was charged for fuel and had to call U-Haul for refund. Although the agent made it easy, a 9mile trip would not have used $75 fuel charge. I had filled it to where it started. The location made pick up and drop off seamless. Customer agent was friendly.
