LONGEST LINE EVER. even when we checked in online, it was not made clear to us that we could go pick up our keys without waiting in line. It said it had been dispatched before we had gotten our keys, and when returned it the worker said it had been dispatched improperly

Online Check in still required me to wait in line behind all other customers. If a separate online check-in line were available it would expedite the process for those customers.

I was unhappy for I reserved online and put I was going 200 miles and it didn't change the price from $19.95 to $79, so I was a bit surprised when we picked up the van and since I was going over 100 miles it changed the equipment charge to $79 for the day. It should have indicated this online when I reserved it. It was a bit of a bait and switch if you ask me. We didn't have other arrangements so I paid it and moved my daughter home. The other thing is I reserved in Bondurant which is close to Altoona and then I was called the next day and told I had to go to the south side of Des Moines to get the van which was more miles I had to put on the van! Overall happy with the equipment and the guy that checked us out very unhappy with Uhauls online reservation if it was incorrect or the location if they charged me wrong. Anyway I look at it I will call someone else next time and only use Uhaul if I have too!!

Only 2 people working in the morning, clearly needed more help , the line of customers was hacked up to the door. The 2 were doing their best, but could feel the frustration. They powered through it.

I came in to let uhaul know that I would not need another month on my storage unit. I was waiting at the counter for about 5 minutes before an employee showed up. A woman and her husband came in and stood behind me. A uhaul employee came to the counter and started talking to her and acted like I was invisible. So I turned around to the Lady and said, " why are you trying to cut in line"? The uhaul employee never apologized to me!! He was rude to me after that. After I finished with this uhaul employee I went to the end if the line just so I could work with someone else. I rented a truck from a different uhaul employee and his name tag said Manager. He was very nice and explained everything very well. My other complaint is there isn't any place to sit down. Four hours later when I returned the truck my daughter and I had to wait 15 minutes for our ride to pick us up. There isn't a safe place to sit and wait. We sat on the curb in front of the store in the 95 degree heat. Next time I will go back to The one I usually go because it has a waiting area. I will not go back to this location. The prices are ridiculous! It is not $19.95 in town.. it is also .79 cents a mile plus gas. 4 hours of the smallest truck rental cost me $70. Yikes!

The staff at the counter did not call me over. I could not see if he was waiting on anyone, but when I walked over he was just sitting there. He was in conversation with other staff complaining about another employee while waiting on me. Any questions for me were asked in a bored monotone. When we hooked up trailer, he did not seem to know how to operate it. He offered no instructions and did not know answers when I asked questions. Poor service all the way around.

Had someone else drop the truck off who was not aware of the fuel agreement on the contract but was told that everything was "good to go" and even asked about the gas and was told it was fine. Yet I was charged for not having enough gas.

Not based on location. But the experience was absolute chaos. Original reservation was changed with no knowledge, although uhaul said they texted to advise me. (no text was ever received). Then a rental I had last year at another location was very, very bad, and I disputed unnecessary charges becaused they closed early and charged an additional 2 days of rental fees. In retaliation to their own shortcomings, they prevented me from renting a truck until I paid some petty amount. This location was good, and taught me to NEVER use private companies pick up locations again and just go to a uhaul ran location instead.

I started out at the U-Haul on 63rd in Des Moines Iowa they were total assholes made me wait an hour and a half past my deadline so now I have to pay two days rental on the truck instead of one that's the place I need to rate

The attendant acknowledged not all the rear trailer lights were working, but still assigned the trailer to me. Did not leave me with the impression that safety was important.

Service was slow, and the back door on the uhaul got stuck because it was broken. It took us over an hour to get the door down. When I told the employee about it he didn't seem to care. In the future I will avoid using uhaul, not a good experience!

It would have been nice if someone could have gone over the appeared that the vehicle had some type of cruise control but we didn't know how to use it.

The customer service could be improved. When reserving the u hall I was not told I needed the exact address just the city we were moving to. The gentleman at the desk when picking up the truck got angry that I didn't know the exact address. It was easily obtained but and I understand I should have had it but felt the man was unnecessary rude.



I was not happy, started off ordering the trailer from a U-haul distributor in Ankeny at a location that was convenient for me, ordering 3 days in advance. Your traffic dept. called me and told me I had to go to another location in Ankeny. I went to that location on the day I was to pick up the trailer, went in and paid, ready to hook up and they was hooking up to a trailer the wrong size, they did not have the right size; therefore I had to go to the south side of Des Moines to get the trailer when I needed it in Ankeny. And of course I was late doing what I needed to do because I was driving all over and doing paperwork two times. Other than that, the south side was excellent; that is usually where I go, but I thought it would be more convenient for me in Ankeny.
