We had to navigate over a snow bank to get the truck out. The cargo area was very dirty and had U-Haul equipment left in it which we did not rent and took up valuable space. The self-check-in process was difficult this time—time-consuming with a handful of stops and starts that took over 40 minutes of our time. Trying to use an expired license, which had been renewed but had not yet arrived, was one of a few hang-ups. One of the chat-reps that was trying to help automatically timed me out of the process at one point because I was "not responsive" while she had asked for a document that I was trying to find, instead of asking first what the delay was—thus making me start all over. However the most frustrating part was U-Haul needing a reference check "because your license was out of state." This was my fourth truck rental in one month—I did not understand the need when I have been a good customer on multiple recent occasions. What if the U-Haul rep was not able to reach someone? It's also just simply embarrassing from the consumer's standpoint.
