The cab and truck were immaculately clean. However, one tire was pretty low on air. Because of some customer congestion on site, I filled up the tire with air at my home. It held it fine then.

Not nearly enough people checking customers in. 1 lady working hard trying to get people checked in and she called on radio for assistance multiple times to no avail. Black girl finally comes in with an attitude and jumps on the overrun clerk as to why she hadn't done something. She told her that she would not discuss it in front of customers. That seemed to really give her an attitude toward the customers and co workers. I told her that the girl was doing all that she could and that we all things going on too, and she started to argue with me. I would have fired her on the spot if she worked for me for bringing grievences up in front of customers as well as arguing with customers. Very poor.

The only issue was the driver side sun visor was broken to stow it away. It worked but I wasn't able to stow it.

They charged me $60.00 without notifying me. That's theft. Also no one greeted us or infromed us of the return process. We sat in the truck for 15 mintues while a young lady just walked around the lot. We had to exit the trucj3to ask her the next steps.


I would rate Madison excellent at this location and everybody else at corporate U-HAUL poor. so the question is for this location 5 stars after what Madison was able to accomplish for me. The experience started off as a disaster with me being told to pick up my truck at a different location then i agreed to. when i arrive to that location nobody was present and no truck to be seen at facility. i had to go to the original facility i was supposed to get the truck at and start from scratch. they tried charging me more bc reservation wasn't on file and accused my of lying to them and nothing they could do at that time. i had to go bc movers were waiting on me at my place to move me so i paid and went on my merry way. fast forward a couple days later and individuals at corporate U-Haul didn't believe me either and did not want to reimburse me my money and stating need documentation when they lost my reservation and couldn't find thats not my fault. after some deep digging by the Manager named Madison at the franklin st store in Gastonia, nc low and behold my original reservation was found and everything i have been telling them was correct. she reimbursed me some money for my troubles and was the only one that went out of her way to do that. she should get recognized and compensated from corporate u-haul for doing what she did, an amazing job in the end to go above and beyond. Thanks Madison, need more people like you at your company. the individuals at corporate office never called or emailed me to apologize or compensate me for my headaches, wasted time, money, and frustration they put me through, they know who they are. Madison did a fabulous job of satisfying my frustration in the end, however i still feel corporate u haul should compensate me in some manner based on how much time, effort, and money i put towards my renting from U-HAUL.

Only issue I had was when I was given the truck, I was told there was 3/8 of a tank of gas in it and I had to return the truck with that much gas in the tank. When I started the truck there was almost no gas in tank at all as the gauge was on E and the indicator to get gas told me I only had 50 miles left. Clearly you're not checking if the previous customer actually filled up the tank like they were supposed to.

Be quicker in helping and assisting people. Ensuring that they are not taking everything but your blood to rent a trailer (I mean 3 people to verify you are who you are isn't that what your liesence with your picture and name is for). Telling everybody everything up front (charging more because you use cash and not a credit card and saying you need extra supplies just to rent the trailer is ridiculous). However the staff who helped me to get the trailer attached was very helpful and would highly recommend this location solely because of the staff who helped me to load and unload the trailer and for no other reason. They were phenomenal. Their attitudes were uplifting and if I could've tipped them I would. One even took the time to change a fuse because it was messed up in the trailer so that I could go about my day.

Everything went smooth. There were no problems at all. I always use U-Haul, and would recommend them to anyone.


I had a 26' truck ordered, I had cancelled a previous order weeks prior for a 20' truck after assessing my move. Showed up day of and the girl had moved forward with the order on the 20' truck I only caught it when I walked outside. Went back in and she quoted the 16' truck as $60 more for the same rental where my booking for the 26' truck rate showing in the app was only $20 more. Worst of all I got in the truck and it was on empty, the reservation sheet she gave me after “fixing the 20 ‘ to 26' change” did not show previous fuel or the mileage. I feel at the end of the day I got screwed on the cost of my rental because of this. She also set my drop off different than I had in the reservation for the 26' truck resulting in nearly 20 miles of additional travel to drop the truck off. My new home is on the very northern section of the zip code and I had set the reservation to the U-Haul just 4 miles from my new home. Absolutely absurd.

First of all, I've spent plenty money with U haul and have been a repeat customer numerous times. I will never use U haul again. I reserved a truck on 11/17/20 for Dec 5 at Stanley NC location. 2 days prior we get a message that we will have to pick up at another location in Stanley NC. We call back to confirm and then they tell us No Now we have to pick up in Huntersville NC. So we confirmed got the email for Huntersville. 20 mins before I time to pick up on Dec 5 @12 pm. I'm 5 minutes away and I get a call asking if I received the confirmation email, not knowing U haul sent another email stating to pick up in Gastonia NC (40 mins away) from Huntersville. I told the Assistant manager about all the mix up she said she would have manager to call me back to rectify the inconvenience that cost meMORE MONEY!!! I'm still waiting on her call called back with no answer. So with all that being said U haul is a rip off and you need to take the reservation option away because your false advertising. Also called 1 800 number and still haven't hear back about a resolution this must be how they conduct business in a regular, jerking people around and wasting their time and money. Never again and I will tell anyone I know not to patronize U Haul for anything.

I did not only drop off here but have a storage unit here as well. I am moving due to the unexpected passing of my fiancé. The employees in Gastonia made this experience so much worse than it already was. We had issues with the elevators and how they would shut before you could load things to get to the basement. When asked for assistance they were less than helpful and made the situation worse by just standing there and offering no assistance. When the people helping me became frustrated saying “this is bullshit” and “how the hell are we supposed to load this shit” one employee (girl wearing boot) told them not to cuss. However, the other employee who was a young skinny girl with long dark hair said “fuck em” and they both walked away like I wasn't standing right there. They then proceeded to announce over the intercom that I would be charged with the card on file to fix the elevator if it were to break. Never mind the elevator was closing on us (hitting our bodies) every 5 seconds. This place is beyond ridiculous and if I had the energy to move again right now I would in a heartbeat.
