Byrne was great. However, the process of actually getting my vehicle was very flawed and overly complicated, which was not Byrne's fault but due to the process at UHaul. I did receive an email and a text prompting me to do an online check-in the day before my rental. I tried to do that, downloading the app and creating an account for myself. However, it did not automatically link the reservation I'd just made with my new account, so I was unable to check-in in advance. I figured I'd just iron that all out in person with the staff when I arrived to pick up my vehicle the next day. But when I arrived, the location was closed for the weekend. My only option was to check in using the app. I spent a considerable amount of time sitting in the parking lot on the phone with customer service while they walked me through the steps of linking my existing reservation with my new account, which was vary far from obvious. Then I got off the phone with the customer service person and tried to complete the check-in myself, but again I got stalled by another technical glitch. This time, the app wouldn't let me complete my check-in without uploading photos of the vehicle, but at the same time it refused to upload the photos from my phone. Again, I had to call customer service, they explained that this was a common glitch, and then they sent me another link to another website (outside of the app) which did allow me to upload those photos. By the time I got my vehicle home, it was a full hour after my check-in time. Later that day, when I was returning the vehicle, the process was also very complicated. Again I had to take photos of the vehicle from all angles, and then later in the process take a photo of the vehicle in the parking lot to show its location where I parked it. By this time I'd attempted to complete the return process from the warmth of my own car, and kept having to trek back across the large parking lot to go back to the rental vehicle and take yet more photos of it .So while Byrne was great, there were serious issues with the UHaul check-in and check-out process.
