The auto transport unit had a chain broken, the truck had the check-engine light on making me so nervous driving it. The truck would also badly lose power driving up steep hills. The uhaul worker Christopher Bennett forgot to put my appliance dolley inside the truck adding to the stress of moving by having me pick one up at Ardmore Pawn in Ardmore, Alabama. He said he would refund my $12 I paid for the appliance dolley for my inconvenience when I called him explaining his mistake, but he never did refund me anything. The drop off location Advance Metal in 1432 W Linwood Dr. Opelousas, LA 70570 was worse. First, the worker Denise calls me on Thursday to say I can return the equipment at 8pm on Friday the 31st or anytime after hours as she had a drop box for the keys. Then Friday the 31st she calls in the morning asking for the equipment back forcing me to put all my possessions in a storage because of her unwillingness to work with me and the miscommunication between us.

My first issue with U-Haul, is that I was not informed at ALL that I would be dropping my U-Haul off in an unfamiliar, 3rd party, rude and disrespectful “QUICK STOP” gas station! Due to the unprofessionalism, the police were called on ME for taking pictures of the Gas station attendant physically standing beside the truck, after stating to me that the truck would be marked as “not returned” if I didn’t give her $98 for gas at that very moment! I am very new to this area, and just moved up with my job, so yes I was confused as to where my dropoff point was, being that there is an OFFICIAL U-Haul location approximately 3 minutes from the location in which I confirmed my new address would be when reserving this rental. I called and had a U-Haul rep on the line with me for about 20 min as the ordeal escalated and police arrived. My anxiety was very high and I was in TEARS, shaking as I was totally disrespected, and DEGRADED in a public gas station, in a brand new unfamiliar place by someone who represented YOUR company. This move was very big for me, and highly stressful as it is moving from out of state, and your “representative”, 3rd party or not, has lost you a long time customer! And by the way the police thought it was a joke, and stated that nothing that I did was illegal, it was simple documentation for a escalated incident, and that I was free to go. Your representative demanded my personal cellphone, YES MY CELL PHONE!! Stating she will delete the pictures off of my phone herself, as she followed me to my car in a very threatening manner, and stated I could not take any more pictures off the truck, mileage, or anything! So Im prepared to dispute any bogus charges, and will never rent with U-Haul again.

I didn't get her name, but a black girl at the register was extremely rude on Tuesday the 21st acting like my questions regarding my rental were annoying her. Everyone else was extremely polite and friendly, especially on Friday the 24th when I actually picked up my rental (pick-up truck).

Customer help line is not helpful. My reservation was set for noon rather than late in the afternoon. I called md confirmed th day before and wa d I could pick up anytime before closing t 7:00 pm. I showed up and they had cancelled my reservation. The local office said they were not notified of a change in pick up time. I was told at pickup that my card would not be charged until my return. My charge showed up on my card the next day (my rental wa for 3 days). I returned on Saturday after closing. When I called to confirm they had seen the trailer and processed my reservation s complete I got the help center who had no idea if they had the trailer or not. All I have for confirmation is an assurance the help center sent the local office a message if there were any problems. That is not a confirmation.

Upon pickup of our equipment the gentleman who was helping us was beyond amazing. He helped and showed us how to put my car on the trailer. And all of our questions were answered.

Trailer tires were very questionable. Trailer was damaged and old. While pulling a short distance down the road the wheels/bearings? Made very load road noise. Unit needed overhaul or taken out of service. Returned next morning and didn’t even use to move. Paid 1day rental because I left lot. Staff were pleasant.

The only problem I had was fueling the 10' Box Truck before I returned it. The 'auto-shutoff' valve in the gas pump handle would 'click-off' unless you held the flow rate really, really LOW. Took forever to pump 10 gals. of gas. I tried two different gas stations, so it wasn't the gasoline nozzles. It looks like there might be a restriction inside the gas tank filler neck?!? Other than that - Everything, to include service, friendly attitude, and professionalism was ALL OUTSTANDING!!

The University location was able to meet our needs after the first location we made reservations with was no longer in business when we went to pick up the truck. What a big inconvenience, and we were not compensated for the mix up. Neither were we offered any promotional deals. Really disappointed with the online registration process.
