This was my first time renting and returning a van from Uhaul. My pick up went fine, it was a good experience, I used my phone to check in, worked great. Returning the van was not a good experience. The entrance was completely blocked by parked moving trucks, so I drove down to the other entrance, not sure what to really do as I've never rented a moving van before, so I parked and a man asked me to “pull over there”. Well “over there” was a mess of vans and trucks, still wasn't sure what to do. Then a lady told me to park and that she would straighten out the van, that they are “trying to get as many trucks through there as possible” like I was being incompetent and inconveniencing everyone. She said she would check it in for me, which was cool, but then as I was out of the truck I asked her where I was supposed to drop off my keys, where is the key drop off box? To which she responded “there is no key drop off box, I just said I would check it in for you.” I just handed her the keys, and said thank you. Completely rude, all she had to say was “here, I'll take the keys”. I picked this location because it's super close to where I live, I won't be going there again.

My truck smelled like cigarettes & the customer service person at the 86th St location was rude. I also picked to get my truck from the 116th St location & was told the day before that I would have to drive to a farther location instead. Poor planning on the facility's end.

I just don't understand why after charging me the 19.95 local usage and 7.70 tax and the .79 per mile you then charged me another 5.25 fuel charge. What exactly was the .79 per mile for the 22 miles I drove for if not the gas? Hidden Charges are not a good way to run a business!

Not have to wait 45 min and it should be more kid friendly, sometimes you'll have kids with you. They had us waiting for 45 min looking for the truck and also what people said over the phone and what was on line and also what we paid for changed 4 times so we didn't get the rental rate, and had to go to a different place, and what I was told cost more then it should. Their excuses was unfortunately we only have what's on the computer file, like I was the one in the wrong not them and also I called about it a few times trying to make sure what we needed was right and when we showed up most of it was still wrong. It was a mess! I'm not happy. It made me worry the whole time. And having the added coverage rate kept changing as well.

I received the truck with a 1/4 tank and returned the truck with half the tank because I assumed I would drive the truck more. The General manager would not reimburse me some money due to the fact I overfilled and left it at half a tank. The same way the document everything to the mile they should at least be considerate and reimburse me the money when I overfilled the tank.
