Honestly, I have no complaints about the Fort Henry Motel., their sertice was 5/5. However, my issue is with UHaul. I booked my U-Haul almost a week in advance. My pickup point was changed twice, one of which was hours before pickup. I spoke to a customer service agent after my final change to ask for some sort of compensation, such as a distance discount or something. I was only told that they could either upgrade me to a 20-foot truck or bring a trailer with me. I was sent numerous messages from U-Haul throughout the week trying to get me to take a larger truck or trailer, and I rejected each request. The customer service agent only said I could upgrade for free, and did not mention any type of discount for taking a larger truck. A larger truck or trailer does not benefit someone who doesn't need it, and it was suggested that the additional gas used would be on my dollar. She basically claimed that I was out of luck and that there was no assistance they could offer for relocating me twice. I ordered a one-way truck and was driving over 400km. Obviously, I am going to want the pickup location to be accessible, which the location I originally booked from was within walking distance. I got sent into the country, around 15km away from where I wanted to receive the truck, without any sympathy from the agent. Quite frankly, if the feature to order a truck from your preferred pickup location should be eliminated, if U-Haul will not honour that. The location I was sent to was closed during my scheduled pickup time, and I was not given any instructions for self-pick up. A huge credit to the staff who were still on site, answered the phone, and were able to assist me in acquiring the rented truck. Without them, I would have been truckless. To conclude, this was one of the most unprofessional and disorganized experiences I have ever had with a commercial transaction. The staff member I dealt with at the Motel was fantastic and saved me from an even larger headache due to the negligent and careless behaviour of the unreliable staff in honouring my booking, recognizing that last minute changes should result in compensation, and ensuring that I was being sent to a location with either the ability to meet with someone during owrking hours or being sent the information and tools check myself in. The UHaul office must do better.
TIMOTHY JThe brakes in the vehicle I drove were not in good condition. Either the pads were worn or the rotors were out of round. Very unsafe at highway speeds. I reported the issue when I returned the vehicle.
