The dates, mileage, and low price that I correctly booked online was reportedly changed by the customer service representative or traffic manager that locates and schedules the equipment that is booked. (Or so I was told). Despite receiving an email confirmation with the summary details correctly shown, when I called to confirm the morning of the pick-up, I learned that someone had completely changed my reservation without my permission or even asking to confirm my details. When I learned of these changes to my reservation, it was a frustrating mess of being transferred between three different representatives, none of which â€œhad the authorityâ€ to change my reservation back to what I originally booked in the first place! The third guy, a traffic manager, had a bit of an attitude, and â€œgave me the additional daysâ€ I said I booked, but wanted to charge me a bunch of fees for them. No way! The fourth time they transferred me to what was supposed to be a Long Beach-local traffic manager, I sat on hold for more than 20 minutes (which took me past my scheduled reservation start time) while standing at the counter at the La Habra office. Still...no one answered the phone call. Fortunately, the La Habra people were able to rectify the situation with a phone call to their manager where I (again) pled my case. The manager essentially took my word for it but I was able to provide them the summary email of the details of what I bought, had they asked for proof. In the end, the sweet girl at the La Habra office (Clarissa, maybe?), was able to get me off the ledge by honoring what I reserved. I owe them a debt of gratitude for correcting what one of their cohorts, in a different location, punted into the stands. Equipment was used with normal dents and scratches by people that have not been careful in the past. Was glad to see new tires on the auto hauler. The truck, having just under 40K miles, ran line a champ. Bottom line, the actions of the girl in the La Habra office, which may have even been in training, caused my my review to jump a full star up from the 1-star I would have given U-Haul. For her actions, and the condition of the equipment, I gave them 2-stars. If it weren't for these two huge positives, it would have been 1 or no-stars...

Good Morning and Happy New Year. I thank you for reaching out to me I do have some concerns about my entire contract process and the state of the equipment I was issued to complete a 2000 mile move from Los Angeles to Clarksville. I know you are only the receiving end manager and had nothing to do with my equipment issuance process, but I am asking for a higher level person whom I may voice my concerns to. I reserved a 4x8 trailer back in October for a moving date of Dec 28, 2020. I was sent several emails from U-Haul.com assuring me the equipment would be ready for me at the Inglewood CA U-Haul facility. On Saturday Dec 26, I was called by the on duty person at the Inglewood location and told my trailer would not be available on my reserved date. The person stated that there were no trailers available in the entire Los Angeles California area, and she wanted to know how flexible I was with my dates for needing the trailer. As I was moving 2000 miles and had responsibilities to report for in Clarksville, TN I was not very flexible at all. I asked the Inglewood customer service rep what options there were and she said I could drive to Las Vegas (573 miles round trip) or San Diego (251 miles round trip) to pick up a trailer on my own. This was completely unacceptable, but then she said there would be one trailer available for me at the La Habra, CA U Haul location by Monday the 28th, which was a 60 mile round trip from my home. On Sunday evening Dec 27th, the LaHabra CA on duty person called me to say that my trailer would not be available the next morning at 7am as U Haul promised, since the previous user had failed to return it on time. LaHabra customer service rep said she would keep checking the next day but there was no idea when a trailer might be available. I called the national corporate number and after waiting on hold for over 30 mins, spoke with two pleasant people who could provide no assistance as they also said no trailers were available in Southern California. At no time was I offered a larger trailer upgrade or even a possible discount on the smallest box truck would have been a nice suggestion. All I was told was nothing was available. On Monday Dec 28th at 7am, I received a text from U-Hual saying send in a copy of my Driver License for my upcoming rental. Since I was told there was no trailer available I was a little confused. I called the LaHabra CA location, but nobody answered and yet again I had to wait 15 mins on hold for the national customer service to answer. She assured me the trailer was at the LaHabra Ca location and available for me, but she was unsure of how long it would remain there. I immediately drove 30 miles in Los Angeles rush hour traffic on the HOPE that the trailer was there. Upon my arrival, I saw there was one trailer in the lot: this ancient piece of equipment from 1982! It was 39 years old and I was expected to drive it 2000 miles. My options at this point were take it or leave it, we do not know when another trailer would become available. I took the trailer and drove it across the country, extremely worried the whole trip whether it would even make it. Please review the included photos and see my continued narrative below. A fellow driver flagged me down and I had to stop on the highway and place a lock on the handle. Once I got it loaded and we departed, I noticed about halfway through the trip that the left tire was completely bald and the rusted state of the wheel hubs caused me concern they might break off on a rough road. This piece of equipment should have been taken out of service years ago. I am glad it did not break down and the trip was made safely, but the stress caused while driving through snow and rain was great upon myself and my family. I have to repeat the trip in June and bring the remainder of personal belongings from California to Clarksville TN. I will be expecting to rent an even larger trailer (5X10) for this evolution and I would like to know how U-Haul will prevent this kind of thing from happening again. As a final note. I have been a Triple AAA member since 1992 and I would like some sort of discount for this rental as I understand you give those (AAA member ). I was not offered throughout the rental process any type of compensation for my inconvenience, I have been a loyal customer of U-Haul since 1990 and have conducted several moves using your equipment, I would very much appreciate it, and expect someone to contact me and bring resolution to this issue. I also expect the next move to be of much better quality or I will take my business elsewhere before even attempting the move. I look forward to and fully expect to hear from a supervisor in the near future to address my concerns. Thank you,

This location was not convenient compared to my original request, but I do understand it's because of the times. Kudos though, I originally requested a 20' truck, was told only a 15' was available, but ended up with a 20' truck. I do appreciate this.

Whittier location was not very friendly. I will only return to the la habra location
After the vehicle was loaded on the transport the night before departure it was noticed that all of the trailer driving lights were not working. Signal and brake lights worked. Since it was so late and we planned to leave at 4:30AM we couldn't swap out the trailer. We had to leave 2 hours later than planned to travel in daylight. This caused scheduling issues.
The La Habra team has consistently given me good service and are easy to work with. Highly recommend.
The staff was efficient but not particularly friendly. The computers were not working when we picked up the truck, which was frustrating. But in the end we were able to do what we needed to do.
When I made a Reservation for a Rental at one location and it's confirmed that the Rented Truck will be available at that location, I was very Satisfied. But, then I get a phone call that I have to pick up the Truck that I rented and received confirmation on, from another location. That NEW location for rental pickup is now 5 miles from the originally established location, which means I require 10 additional miles (round trip) of personal transportation and I was charged for an additional 10 miles of driving (the Rental), because the Pick up location for the rental was changed by U-Haul. Helpful and friendly staff
Showed up to pick up trailer. Girl behind counter hated her job but loved texting. System was down and my request for writing it up by hand was ignored. After waiting for system for over an hour, I was told â€œWe're closed come back tomorrowâ€. I told employee I needed the trailer before they opened, then the door was slammed. Unbelievable lack of any care for customer. Never seen this kind of service ever.

The truck ran horrible it shook violently throwing my cell phone out of its holder multiple times as I needed it for navigation. The engine shook so bad i thought it was going to explode
This was terrible experience. Website said it was available for full 24 hours so I trusted and went, and rep told me i need to return by 7 PM, so I ended up hiring more movers and cost me extra $250 to get it done before 7 pm. /This is ridiculous, and I would like to write a letter to your executive team for this crap service.
