I rented a truck one week ago. When I was doing the moving, a piece of metal that support the door was broken when i closed it. That piece was already weak, and the company charged 150$ dollars, making me responsable for something that was already damaged. In addition to that I paid 16$ insurance. I don't know for what. This is a real theft and a shame from this company.

Made a reservation for a van online. When we arrived, there were vans in the parking lot but we were told they were "in use." And so we were forced to take a truck into a neighborhood with narrow, double parked streets. The truck mirror was clipped by a passing vehicle while we were loading the back, and we got hit with the charges for the mirror and also damages we were not responsible for. The guy who rented the car for us did not follow protocol and walk us out to the vehicle before hand to check the gas level or check for damages. Horrible service, horrible experience.

The truck was filthy and there was a leak in the top right corner. Also I had specially rescheduled this location win a Uhaul agent the previous day to allow 24 drop off, however when I got there I was informed that if I didn’t return the truck to the same location by 7pm I would be charged another day. Overall this was the worst experience I’ve had with any Uhaul location and I am likely to no longer use Uhaul in the future as a result.

Worst experience wasted 3 cab rides trying to find the uhaul and being bounced around and calling customer service. Would never rent a uhaul again. Rather spend 500 on hiring movers next time.

I reserved a truck, furniture pads, hand truck, and dolly and only received a filthy truck. The guy that worked there was extremely unprofessional and told me if I didn't like it I can go to another location (knowing there are no trucks available). He was also very hesitant to honor u-haul policy on box buyback.

Instruct customers that there is in fact a lock on the main cargo door and how to operate it. I moved without knowing there was a lock and when I spoke to the staff, they said it is difficult to find, which is something customers should be privy to.

When I went to pick up the uhaul van at another location (35-00 Review Ave), I was informed when I arrived at 10:40am for my 11am reservation that the previous customer that rented the van was supposed to return it at 10am. When the customer service rep called the previous customer, they said they weren't going to return it for another 1.5 hours. We were then told to walk to the Van Dam location in the rain to pick up the van, which wound up taking over 25min. Nobody apologized, not even once. This was very frustrating. The customer service rep should have been monitoring the reservations and should have informed us beforehand that previous customer was late before we even arrived. This was a bad uhaul experience.

Horrible experience. I arrived and the paperwork read the truck mileage at 125880 but the speedometer read 125992. I immediately brought it up to the worker in the gas station he wrote it down in paper and said that when I return the vehicle he will have it fixed bc he had to make calls to do so. I returned the vehicle later that night there was a different worker and on my final receipt the mileage in now read 25862. I tried to explain to the worker that the mileage was wrong and I tried to show him the proof bc I took pictures. He was not only extremely rude to me but he screamed at my father and told us it's not his problem to call uhaul. Then I tried to tell him we needed to show him the speedometer in the truck he said he was busy and didn't have time so just call Uhaul customer service. There was no one in the store. I don't know how Uhaul can trust this location to represent them in such a manner. I will never use Uhaul again

The transaction picking up the vehicle was fine. The van had an awful Odor and the oil change warning light was lit the entire time. On the return trip it felt strange and sounded strange, like the transmission was slipping. When I went to rerun the van there was no one there to receive it. I waited 25 minutes and no one ever came, despite the other employee of the shared space telling me to wait first ten minutes, then a "few more," then "three more," over nearly a half hour. Finally I was given the owner's phone number- Sami. He told me what to do and I did the close out process on my own, after waiting there for so long. Then the owner charged me additional money because he said that in the 14 page contract it states that there would be an additional charge if the van was driven over 10 miles- we drove 20 miles. And returned it two hours early. I will be calling my credit card regarding the additional $17+ Charge. The first invoice I received did not have these charges. Any reputable business would have not filed the additional money due to inconveniencing the customer. Disgraceful!

We were extremely disappointed in the experience. I was 8 months pregnant and my husband and I were moving from NYC to Stamford on a very tight schedule. We had movers to pack up the trucks scheduled at both locations and all we had to do was get the truck there to be filled up. I made the online reservation and guaranteed it with my Amex card over a week in advance. I was instructed to create an account with UHaul because the location that we were picking up the truck at was not open until an hour later, but we'd be able to pick it up through the app. It seemed simple enough. When the day got closer I received a confirmation email saying the truck was available at 8am and not 7am which I booked. I immediately called UHaul customer service and spoke to a nice gentleman that guaranteed I had done everything correctly and the reservation was available for me to pick up using my online account at 7am, because you're allowed to pick up 1 hour early but can no longer pick up if you're 15 minutes late. He also walked me through the process of using the online check in so that I would know exactly what to do. I felt comfortable after talking to him. The day of the move, my husband and I got on the road from the Hamptons at 5AM in order to arrive at the designated Long Island City location at 7AM. We made it there at that exact time. I started the check in process on my phone and it repeatedly said that there was NOT a truck for us. We called the phone number and left multiple messages with the contract it said to use if we had issues...we also spoke (and were transferred over 4 times) to UHaul customer service in which NOBODY could explain what was happening or what they needed to do to fix this issue. It was the most frustrating hour ever. Nobody was helpful. Nothing got done. They basically said, sit there and wait until the location opens. It was awful service. By then, our moving guys were already on the clock so we had to pay them for an extra hour of just sitting there and doing nothing because we didn't have the truck when we were guaranteed the truck. This was the first time using UHaul and most likely the last time...and I will not recommend this company to anyone. In fact, the right thing to do would be to comp this rental because of these troubles. By the time we got the truck we were an hour late to the NYC apt, and then an hour late to the CT location where AGAIN the company we had booked to move the stuff out of the truck into the apartment was waiting on the clock. Because of these extra charges caused by UHaul, I think it's only right we be compensated for what you charged us for the truck. Especially since I called and confirmed EVERYTHING the night before. I was charged for the safemove insurance even though I mentioned that I did not need it because both my credit card and the Company's GL insurance covers specifically commercial rentals as well. Also, I was charged for 6.5 gallons of fuel for driving 13 miles. When i pumped the gas and it clicked 3 times, i went him to tell him it was full. He had my swipe my credit card and pumped the gas himself, somehow adding an additional 6 gallons. I know these vehicles consume fuel but there is no way it gets 2 miles to the gallon, that doesnt even make sense.
