I needed a van. Simple. Both vans I was given had mileage way over what was on the registration and 1 had a warning light for the tires. Needless to say I cancelled the transaction because I was so frustrated with the equipment. The agent was assigned there, not her permanent location, but I could feel her frustration too. That location needs major help.

On a Saturday morning there was only one person working the counter. As a result it took 40 minutes to get a truck. The man at the counter (GM), was rude to customers in line and definitely displayed that he didn't want to be there. Upon returning the truck, I opted to have U-Haul refill the tank. I drove a total of 13 miles on a truck that Uhaul states gets 12 MPGs. I was then charged for 3.5 gallons of gas. WTH? Did that truck really return 3.7 MPGs when the it should be around 12? If so, then Uhaul should take a look at that engine. Upon pointing this fact out the GM, all he could say was "well they have their calculation." Next time I will be going down the street to the other location.

My only other comment is that it was very confusing as to which location I was supposed to return the truck. I had a "preferred return location" listed on my confirmation email, but it was not clear that I was supposed to actually return there. Overall, an unnecessarily stressful experience.

Make more clear when furniture pads will be charged for. Our truck contained 2 "sealed" packages of pads and one loose pad. While we didn't need any of the pads, it was unclear at what point we would start being changed for the pads if we decided that we needed them.

Was surprised to have gotten a truck on the 1st of the month during College Week. I ariver late for my reservation but a truck was available and that was surprising. Uhaul has come a long way since the late 90's/early 2000's.

Self drop off was excellent. Location was busy so difficult to rate per the above. But again -- this was not my primary choice of drop off location. I was forced to come here versus a more convenient location closer to whee I was. This is a clear case of getting the equipment to suit uhaul versus customer convenience. Everything about the rental was excellent except being fleeced to chase the truck versus it being convenient. I know this is a particularly busy time but I wouldn't use uhaul again because of this.



BEWARE. Uhaul changed my original reservation. Truck was not ready when promised and available for only half the time reserved. A complete waste of my time and money.

When I picked the truck up around 7:30, I was told it had to be returned by 12:00. I rented it for 8 hours beginning at 7:00 a.m. That means I should have it until 3:00. The General Manager had some crazy explanation about the rental doesn't mean you have it for the entire time. It made a stressful day, MUCH more stressful. He did let me have the truck until 2:00, but I that wasn't any favor to me.

Actually live up to what you say you're going to do. You're a horrible company. Rented the truck for 24 hours in Boston and was relocated to Malden for only 6 hours then got charged out of no where. Never using it again and will be telling all my friends the same.

Hire new/more employees. There was a little bit of a wait in line because the general manager said that all of his staff called out at the same time. The general manager was great and deserves high praises, but it's unfortunate that he had to run this location by himself. Hire more reliable people so this doesn't happen again.

Make one-way rental return rules clearer. I did not understand that I needed to do the online receipt process while I was at this location to do a drop-off after hours. Once I understood that, the morning after, I called the return location, which fed me to customer service, who told me I would get a final receipt by email. I returned the truck 19 hours after I picked it up - well within my 48 hour rental window - after adding what we thought was the correct amount of gas. My final receipt, SENT just AFTER the 48 hour window, charged me for extra gas AND an extra day. I called to complain/explain, and was told I would hear from the manager. It has been 20 hours, and I have yet to hear from anyone.



Great customer service. Efficient, friendly, and they were cool under pressure on what was a very busy day for them.

I reserved a truck with an appliance dolly and furniture pads. At pick up, I asked to add a flat dolly for which I was charged. After driving away with the truck, I opened the back to find no flat dolly included, and all of the furniture pads were soaking wet. Extremely frustrating and careless service.

Ensure the customer is well-informed over the course of the week the location of the van requested, as I had listed my preferred pick up in Brighton but was not informed of the location in Malden until the day before pick-up, and even then it was because I clicked on my account number to check my status.

Have keys for the vehicles ready for pick up. I didn't understand why I was left in the lot with nothing but paperwork until I flagged down a manager and asked where the kid was? - He had gone into some back room looking for the keys. Other than that everything went well.

Be honest about all of the hidden fees. $19.99 doesn't even come close to the daily cost. Mileage charge notice is in small print with no figure; the cost estimate I was given on line came before I was asked to estimate mileage. All totally misleading. The overall cost was actually reasonable, but I was led to believe something different.
