When I booked online it said the location had 24 hr access. I scheduled a 1am drop off on the website. When I got to the location it was closed and the return was not possible. I contacted customer service, they acknowledged the error and said I wouldn't be charged the extra miles for taking it home and bringing it back in the morning. When I finally dropped it off, I also told the person receiving the van the my issue. He said he would make sure I wasn't charged. In the end I was still charged the extra 14 miles or so. It's extremely frustrating to make a booking around the fact that I didn't need to travel far and then end up being forced into more mileage and paying more money.

Dashboard indicators suggested an oil change was required. The car ran fine and maybe it was just a faulty sensor, but it would have been nice to have not been given a van with a warning light.

I was rented a van that had only 1/4 tank of fuel. This alone is unacceptable. I drove the van 14 miles, which may have used 1 gallon of gas, at most and returned it in a timely manner. I was then charged the price of gas, which is above retail, but acceptable to me. However, what is absolutely not acceptable is that I was charged a $30 fuel fill-up service fee. This is absolutely unacceptable when the van was rented to me with a drop more gas than I returned it with.

General Manager William Rodriquez was very helpful. We got to the U-Haul Facility and realized that the trailer we leased was too small. He allowed us to rent the larger trailer on site (being held for someone else) and he had an employee get the replacement trailer from another location. I don't know what we would have done had William not helped us. We were in NY for my son's graduation from Columbia Law and helping him to move back home to MD. He was very professional, confident and caring. Thank you Mr. Rodriquez!!

There was nobody available to walk the truck and inspect for damage prior to the rental. The truck was pretty banged up.

Owner attendant was rude and misinformed us regarding the rental duration time. We had to rush our move when it was supposed to be for 8 hours and not 4. Wouldn't use Uhaul again. Vehicle kept indicating to service tires.

Worst experience ever. Used uhaul many times but probably never again. Staff rude, tried to get 3 staff members to help but instead had one named Ronnie physically come at me and I felt threatened. Request full refund and have already called 800 service. I should not have to fear being hit by one of your employees when asking for help because the previous staff member gave me incorrect information. Please contact me. I will never step foot in this location ever again and will expect to hear from management regarding being threatened.

When I arrived at 830a there was one person handling customers and the line had at least 10 people. There were 3 open cash registers and a handful of employees doing absolutely nothing. The experience at uhaul Chelsea was very similar to the DMV and frankly the staff was equally discourteous. There was no manager as far as I could tell and no accountability for the clear lack of organization. There is absolutely no chance I would recommend this location to anyone else and next time I would look into a zip van to move my things.

Young driver who moves trucks from place to place almost drove over my wife and myself. When I informed him that he was driving too fast and recklessly, not watching where he was going and speeding into the garage as we were standing there, only inches away from his truck going a good 30 mph, his response was: "If I wanted to run you over, you would have been flattened all over this garage..." Which was uncalled for, I thought. Typical NYC, but ridiculously and illogically rude and dangerous.

I was slightly nervous/irritated when i was told about the 1/4 tank of gas rule ($30 charge and $5/gal) when I received the truck at about 1/4 tank- by the time i drove LESS THAN ONE mile it was below- I drove a total of 9 miles- it would have taken me an extra 30 minutes and 4 add'l MILES to add gas. they were nice enough to understand and only charge me $4 for gas- but it was stressful.

We were NOT given information about which roads are allowed in NYC with commercial plates. This information should be given upfront, as it impacts the time it takes to get around the city.

The truck rental was fine but, on the same day that I reserved the truck, April 30, I also rented a storage unit, Master Order number 803062-00116937 , and I was told on the day I was supposed to move into the unit that the location is not renting them out. I was told the building is being sold and I should have gotten notification. I had to scramble around Manhattan, wasting the rental time of the truck, to find a storage unit. I found one at double the cost. I was never notified about the unit not being available and this was a very poor experience. I will be contacting Corporate about this because it is unacceptable, especially from a company as big as U-Haul.
