I waited 25 minutes to check in, it’s a very busy time and the line was long... hire more people at the registers during the weekend rush!

On Saturday morning and other times when you know many people will be renting vehicles, you should staff the rental counter with more than two people. I waited 40 minutes, even though I had filled everything online beforehand

The truck had 99,9800 miles on it and was like driving a go-kart ... the the big problem was trying to return it after hours. The U-Haul website clearly states that the truck could be returned online, and the app said to leave the truck in the lot at the Chelsea location, but there is NO Lot or Key drop!! I had to change my plans and return in the morning. The attendant very smugly told me I should have gone to the Chelsea location website where they state no night returns, but how would I know that there was a website different than the one I rented through?? This should be corrected and I should get a credit for the major inconvenience!

As I said when I dropped the truck off it was very hard to start. Every time the truck was turned off I had 5 minutes of jiggling the steering wheel and turning the keys just to get it to start. Ultimately for the last stop I had to leave the truck running with my gf sitting in the car. Just made the move even more difficult and I didn’t stop the fill up the truck for the same reason. Was an unnecessary stress and to then be charged for 1.5 gallons of gas when I only drove 7 miles?

Train your desk staff to speak clearly, actually look you in the face, perhaps smile, appear to care about you as a customer--you get the point. The van was clean and appealing, the rates fair, but the entire staff, especially at the desk but even in the garage need lessons in basic manners. It's no different than at most other services in the U.S., but uniquely in the U.S. those serving you seem like they're doing you a favor.

Thanks so much for bailing us out of a tough situation!

I felt that the service was slow. And to top it off I got charged for a scratch I felt I did not inflict upon the vehicle. What started out to be a $30 in town rental cost me nearly $200. U-Haul Should be a little more forgiving with customers. The van is a rental vehicle . Designed to move things in New York City. Not a Ferrari. Will reconsider next time I’m renting a vehicle to go with somebody else.

Keep going

The woman was not friendly and was terse, pre-occupied, when I rented the truck. The gentleman when I returned the vehicle that night was friendly and efficient.

The person that helped us with our paperwork was great. The attendant cleaning was horrible and dismissive when we weee just asking about the damages that weren’t marked on the van.

The only issues was the price. Other than that everything was easy.

First thing. If you cannot complete the online/mobile app check in, don't offer it for the location. Still had to wait on line for someone to check me in. When I got to the location. I was looking for the van that was supposed to be ready for me. Wasted 15 mins. When I couldn't locate the van. I found an employee outside. He then said that even though I checked in on the app, that I will still need to check in with an employee. 2nd. Be careful. I was charged for a minor scratch on the van. Which U-haul would probably not fix. And lucky for me, I decided to get the insurance. But, still had to pay the $150 deductible. The employee was giving me some B.S. about them having to replace the entire panel for a scratch. And I wasn't going to waste my time arguing, since I knew that he had made up his mind about the scratch. They are not like regular rentals, which tell you that as long as it's smaller than a certain length. You don't have to worry about, since it's minor and not noticeable. For the total amount I paid. I would rather go through another company with better insurance coverage and will not consider it damaged if the dent/scratch is not larger than a certain size.

After hours drop-off

Complete chaos and disfunction. Rudeness and incompetence at every turn. Hours of wait time. No systems in place. Overbilled for equipment that was not available. A shockingly bad experience which I will never repeat.

The pickup process took over 45 minutes, online express check-in provided no speed up, and the furniture dolly was missing. This was a complete disaster.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS. Only one person working for a huge line every time I visited. Every time I called this location I had to wait on hold for at least 4 minutes before anyone answered. This location is also advertised as a 24 hour location, and the website allows you to check in your truck after hours, but it actually is not a 24 hour location. You should really update that service and become a 24 hour location. This is Manhattan, if someone is stranded with a giant truck in the middle of the night, finding parking is basically impossible. Figure out your shit.

Great service. All the people were very helpful. Very smooth return of van. Thanks

The system was down? Understandable, but the information coming from the staff was incomplete.

Hello I paid online to have a trolley because I add heavy stuff to move from different location with a schedule to respect. When I arrived at the location there was no trolley for me. As a result I hurt my back because of this poor service and I want a refund
