I’ve rented from U-Haul before and have always been pleased with my service. Today was a stark contrast to every other time I’ve used this service. I made a reservation for a truck online hoping to ensure that there would be a truck available for me at the time that I needed it. I showed up at the store at the time of my reservation which was 4:30pm. There was a note on the door stating that the employee who was working was working the storage units and he would be back in ten minutes. It didn’t seem to be a big deal except that I made a reservation so he should have been expecting me. Ten minutes came and went so we called the number that had been left on the sign on the door. We ended up having to wait 30 minutes for someone to come help us. It was well past our reservation time when we left the store at 5:15pm. Then when we brought the U-Haul back there again was no one to assist us in returning the truck promptly and we had to wait additional time for that as well. It wa overall and extremely dissatisfying experience and one that I don’t think I should have paid as much money for.

We originally had planned to drop off at a different location called "Acorn Mini Storage", but decided against us after a very traumatic experience. We called uhaul the day before we were supposed to drop off and told the we were extremely behind due to storms in our area. They told us that someone was supposed to pick up the uhaul an hour after our drop off time, and we needed to be on time. I let them know we were moving from out of state and it just wasn't possible and asked what we could do. I was told that the "scheduling dept" was closed and I should call back the next day. I was also informed I would be charged for an extra day. I understood that consequence and let them know I would call scheduling the following day to let them know I'd be late. Before I could even call the following morning, I received a phone call from Acorn Storage stating if the uhaul wasn't returned by noon, it would be reported STOLEN. We had just left, it was 1130, heading to our new destination, and I had to pull over both the uhaul and our personal vehicle on the side of the freeway due to intense anxiety after hearing this news. I was told that there would be a cop and a tow truck at the storage facility and it would likely be towed with my possessions in it, before I was able to empty into the storage unit. I was told this was uhauls policy and there was nothing they could do about it. I called uhaul and told them that I had called them the day prior to let them know I WOULD BE LATE. They reprimanded me, telling me I knew there was someone waiting for the truck and needed to be in time. I understood this and felt horrible. I cannot fathom that there wasn't another 15 foot truck available anywhere in the metro area for that family that was waiting for mine. Moving is extremely stressful, extremely unforgiving, and extremely unpredictable. Why they would EVER schedule the pick up of a uhaul within one or two hour of my drop off time is beyond me, considering the circumstances that go along with moving. After talking to 2 additional people, nearly hyperventilating, they simply added a day into my rental. I will NEVER use uhaul again and I will be contacting the BBB in regards to this. Their policy is ridiculous, their scheduling is absurd, and their customer service is HORRIBLE.

The car was very hard to drive — hardly accelerated. Customer service was very poor didn’t show me how to use the car or nothing. Super unhappy & won’t ever use U-Haul again. Terrible first experience.

When I went and picked up the truck. The guy who helped me (Jake F, I think) was alright but I was very nervous of driving this truck pregnant and all and I tried to lighten the mood. And he just seemed to ignore me. Idk. Maybe cause of the horrifying heat. Overall alright.

The storage area of the truck was very clean. However the exterior was dirty and the interior of the truck was horrible. I had to clean the interior before I could ride any distance. It has horrible.

Code was not shown on mobile browser, image of keybox was sized to large for page pushing code off screen and not visible. No return call from manager to unlock. Live chat was unable to contact manager after text, email and calls. Waited over an hour before going to another location.

Make sure the person working actually has an idea of what they're doing. I asked him for a ball wrench to tighten my ball and he said he didn't have one, told me he couldn't do anything about it and processed to hook up the trailer. I drove down the street with an extremely unsafe load and when I came back to ask him AGAIN to fix it, he found the ball wrench right next to his desk and then proceeded to try and tighten it without taking the trailer off. This location was extremely unprofessional and not friendly at all. I had a very stressful time getting my trailer.

On your website, I found 3 locations in Inver Grove Heights with a pickup, when I called to ask a question, all 3 said they didn’t have one and I would have to try again. When I called the 1800gouhaul, she found one, reserved it but would not tell me where in ‘stpaul’ it was located. When I asked her to confirm that a truck would be there at 9am, she said the beIt was in jukebox mode. All good nowt uhaul could do was try and get one there, if not, they will find one at another location, and I could go there to rent it in the morning. I never received a confirmation. So I called at 8pm the night before, the the local agent told me that the 1800 number employees don’t know anything about the reservation process and she told me my truck was in maplewood, which is a 24 mile round trip, instead of 5-6 miles if I went to ‘st paul’. So that was an extra 13-15 dollars in mileage I had to pay extra. When I came for my 9am pickup, I arrived at 840. The rep took one whole hour to get me keys cuz his computer was having issues. It took 20 minutes for him to message a supervisor for help, and finally after 50 minutes, asked IT for help. I asked for any other solution, and he said to just try coming back in a few hours. It finally worked after an hour, but I was late to my charity event that I needed that truck for. And the rep agreed with me that driving to maplewood from Inver Grove Heights was definitely out of the way and not needed. it was just poor customer service overall.

We weren't sure about how to operated gate open and closure when leaving. Was a busy morning for the site so the manager may have been busy when we arrived and could not have touched base with everyone. He was very helpful throughout the morning as we in unloaded.
