Improvements that need to be made at U-Haul in general: - customers in line need to be acknowledged regularly so they know the employees are aware of them and that they care about the long wait they are experiencing. Our wait was around a half-hour on a Saturday morning and nobody acknowledged we were even ALIVE during the wait. Other people in line were noticeably disappointed in the level of service. ... suggestion: purchase and place a water dispenser, a coffee maker and cookies for people waiting. Create a waiting area with seating... That would go a L O N G way to help the L O N G wait times people experience at most U-Haul locations. - Make sure ALL employees dress presentable and they look professional. - have employees keep a smile on their face and at least pretend to enjoy what they're doing... even if they're job may be stressful. MOST EVERYONE has a stressful job. - manager Christopher at this Maplewood, MN location was trying, but I think some members of the staff there do not look or act professionally. - I was mostly disappointed that my reservation with the call center was completely different than what the Maplewood, MN branch had on file. My hitch installation was scheduled for Friday, June 16th 2017 at 9:00 AM. When I just randomly stopped in on Thursday, June 15th, 2017 and met with manager Christopher, he checked his computer schedule and I my appointment wasn't there. It was input as June 30th! So, Christopher informed me the best he could do was to have King (installer) install the hitch on Saturday June 17th at 4:00. My son and I and my son's friend came back on Saturday at about noon and after waiting in line for about 25 minutes (and not being acknowledged) Marshall finally started helping us. I said we were there early for a 4:00 hitch installation on my son's 2007 Honda Pilot. Marshall pulled up my order and saw that the part wasn't showing as "in". So he went out to the shop, I assume looking to see if they had that hitch in stock, and it wasn't. I asked what should I do... we drove two cars from Woodbury, wanted to drop off the vehicle early for the installation later and he said he'll call me after Fed Ex gets there - maybe the part would be on that delivery. So... we left. Pretty disappointed in the time we had taken to coordinate rides/people etc. I later received a call from Marshall and he informed me that the part wasn't on the Fed Ex delivery. So, he referred me to the University Ave. branch and said maybe they can help me in the coming week. Time was of the essence for us since we needed the hitch installed by Wednesday, June 21st 2017 because we had an appointment to pick up a 5 x 8 cargo trailer on Thursday, June 22nd. I connected with the University Ave, St. Paul branch and they weren't able to help. He then referred me to the Como Ave., St. Paul, MN branch and manager Matt there was actually able to HELP us!! We felt amazed and that maybe we were going to get a hitch installed by U-Haul

The pick-up and drop-off locations were both different from my original reservation; pick-up was not too far from original but new drop-off was significantly further away; the original drop-off was not even available to be changed.

I experienced the worst customer experience of my 52 year life during this transaction. I had two things gong on with U-Haul in back to days. The first was an installation of a hitch and then picking up a trailer the next day. The trailer went fine but the installation of the hitch was terrible. I schedule on line to have the hitch repaired at 10am on Wed. I got a call at 9am on Wed that their installer was out ill and could I reschedule to Thursday at 530pm. I explained it was critical to get the hitch so I could move my elderly father-in-law on Friday. The GM of the store expressly told me it would happen. I arrived at 5pm for my hitch install on Thursday and they said they could not install the hitch. Their installer was the only person certified to use the fork lift and they had to use the fork lift to get some boxes off a truck and didn't have time to install my hitch. Marshal asked me why I was scheduled for a 530 hitch appointment when they can't do them that late in the day. I told him it was the GM that scheduled it at 530. Marshal refused to give me the GM's phone number which I found myself and we got on the phone together. During this transaction, I was lied to on more than one occasion (the installer was not ill on Wed (King is his name) but rather your on-line system takes orders for dates and times they don't have an installer in the store so the GM lied to me and said King was ill when he wasn't. Marshall confirmed that there was no installer scheduled to work on Wed and King was not ill. Also, when I got to the store on Thursday, Marshall told me they didn't have an installer working that day and that is why they could not do the install. I told him I had used there store numerous times before and I know who King is and I saw him (with Marshall) as I was driving in the store parking lot so I know he is there. Marshal then confessed he is at the store but had to move the boxes and could not do the hitch install. I ended up leaving without a hitch. I had to drive 240 miles round trip Thursday night to get my other car that my son has (it has a trailer hitch) to pick up my trailer on Friday. I will absolutely never use your store again and will tell everyone I know about what a horrible experience it is. I have been to several other stores and they do a great job. I will never step foot again in the Maplewood store.

Everything for our move went very smooth. We lucked out. We were upgraded to a 20 ft. truck (instead of a 15 ft.). Their communication regarding our reservation was good. One con. When picking up truck parking spaces are very limited.

I was charged extra for a whole extra day and fuel when I returned it on time with a full tank of gas. The guy at the counter when I turned it in said I was "good to go". It wasn't until the next day I received an email of additional charges!! When I called to dispute the charges I was transferred and put on hold for over 19 minutes then spoke with a lady for over a half hour who finally said all she could do was "put a credit request it"....absolutely ridiculous!!! I called Discover Card immediately after that phone call because she went on to say "someone will call me back next week"....yeah right!! I bet I don't hear back from UHaul....I know I'm not paying you an extra $70.60!!!! I just used your service twice in one week!! Best believe i will NOT use your service again AND my son is a college student..which means HE MOVES A LOT!!! Your company is NOT to be trusted.

Reserving equipment seems pointless. Why do I go through the whole process online to reserve what I want when it takes forever when I get there anyway? I've been renting here frequently for a year, so why would they not have my credit card and drivers license on file? The process is painfully slow, and one of the employees was very rude to the man in line behind me. Avoid this location if you can, at least until the old management comes back.

Fuel indication mentioned during Vehicle delivery to me was incorrect. I drove 29 Miles and I filed Gas for $10. But even then I've been Charged $20 more for Fuel..!
