The truck worked fine and the dealer was very helpful. The interior of the truck was a bit dirty. I was pleased that it was fitted with M+S tires for winter driving. A diesel engine would have been appreciated because the gasoline engine was quite thirsty

Make sure all reserved items are available for customer to pick up. Update you computer systems so you have an accurate inventory of all locations so customers don’t have to drive to different locations to try and get dollys and none be available

We had an appointment for pick up at 9am. It had snowed tremendously and thus the truck was covered. It took Alex 45 minutes to clear it. This should have been done earlier that morning so when we arrived it was ready to go. We did NOT receive good customer service. We were disappointed.

Lights on trailer didn't work properly. Only one signal and brake light. Running lights didn't work at all. Long wait getting the trailer, as we had to do the rental over a cell phone from another location. Paperwork sent to my phone I couldn't open. I had to drive 2hrs out of my way to pick up the trailer

Appalling service with regard to on-line booking. I live in Meaford and the default pickup address was Alex's Gas Bar, on Sykes, in Meaford; i.e. this information was already filled in on the on-line form. As I intended to return the vehicle to the same location I copied the same address into the return location and then proceeded with the rest of the booking. Specifically I selected a regular cargo van and - here's my complaint - at no point in the booking was I informed that one was not available at Alex's. However, when I went to pick up the van, I was told there wasn't one unless I went to Owen Sound to collect it. In fact I was told that only 20' or 26' trucks were available and then given a lecture on how the booking is made through a central U-haul database and not based on what was listed as available at the precise pickup location. Again I repeat that, when selecting a cargo van I was NOT told there wasn't one available at Alex's, so I naturally assumed there would be one and this would be the truck I would be getting. On hearing this the response from the employee at Alex's was (and I quote), "your logic is different to the logic of U-haul". At his suggestion I then called the main U-haul number and was then told a 15' truck was available at Alex's. Interestingly this was never mentioned by the employee at Alex's until I told him what I had just been told and he suddenly remembered that he did have one available. For my purposes that was a better option than a 20 or 26' truck so I took it. However, after returning the vehicle, I was billed for the 15' truck not the cargo van I actually booked. All of this begs the question as to ; (1) whether U-hail deliberately mislead customers by giving the impression vehicles are available at given pick-up address when in fact they are not, or (2) that the on-line booking is not kept up to date so that a customer is not informed if their preferred choice is unavailable (and they can then select another option if they wish), or (3) if this experience was a 'one off' and if I'd booked at a different U-haul outlet more accurate information would have been given. I'd be interested to know the answer to that.
