One thing I didn't understand is the PRICING! It has 19.95 on the truck and I rented the smallest truck for 6 hours and I payed 90.00 dollars including the 14.95 for the insurance. So I'm not clear on the rate nor was it explained to me by the attendant at the desk? It was a bit much.

When I booked this on the phone, I asked for the location to be uhaul on north military hwy norfolk va. The representative said all set, I repeated again. I am coming from out of state to pick this tow dolly up. I got down to my daughter's school, we went to uhaul to pick it up, the no military hwy Uhaul said it was at the Monticello ave location. Very frustrating as we are coming out of town and do not know the area that well. The people at the Monticello ave location very kind and let us pick it up the afternoon before to pick it up. Charged me for things I did not receive (pads, dolly). Moving truck was dirty and even had some broken pieces of glass in it, which is a hazard. They selected a location to drop off vehicle that was very far from our apartment and later found out that there was a U-haul location just 5 minutes away that we could have used. Originally we chose a location in Virginia Beach but corporate office called and changed our location to this one in Norfolk because they had a truck where as the other one did not. We had no choice in the matter. Had to drive 30 min extra to get there and there was no apology or compensation of any kind for the inconvenience. You guys guarantee a reservation but ours wasn't guaranteed. Overall our whole U-haul experience cost us more than we actually received but the worst is that it all added up to 3 hours in time inconvenienced. We've used U-haul in the past and had a good experience but this has been the worst move we've had to date.

You need more staff in the main store. Both times we went we had to wait but the second time was over 1/2 hour in line. I felt very sorry for the poor guy who was behind the counter. He kept apologizing for the wait. There was another customer service rep but she came and went and never helped anyone.

Be specific on pick up and drop off locations, as they might change from what what selected. I requested to pick up in Newport News, Virginia and had to go get the truck all the way in Williamsburg (about and hour drive). If I would have known this I would have gone with another moving company. I also requested to have a box trolley and when I got to the location all they had was an appliance trolly so I had to pay an extra 2 dollars ($12 total) for that even though it clearly said $10 dollars on the trolly. Overall the job got done but there was more stress than necessary regarding the truck, I’ll never use U-haul again and I move regularly since I’m in a military family.

The 9' cargo van smelled of SMOKE. If I were asthmatic I would have had an episode. I had to ride with the windows down to get fresh air. the cargo area was fine but the seats just smelled horrible. I told the technician and he said it's not prohibited in the cabins. Please review your smoking policy in your rentals. Other rental companies prohibit it and it would add to the value.

Re emphasize to anyone who rents the vans or trucks NO SMOKING. The van smelled very smoky like cigarettes. Interior in the cab very dusty and inside windows dirty.

Truck was winding, I rented the truck and reported it. Never used it and co uldnt get my refund. This was the worst experience I've ever had. So I wouldn't use this location ever again. I wish they cared more about the customer but it's ok.

When I reserved online, it was not clear that I wasn't getting a one-way rental. After arriving to pick up the truck, there was a bit of confusion, but the associate Christopher was personable, friendly, efficient, and knowledgable. It took us a bit to get sorted out about what we wanted to use since the reservation was different, but Christopher was super helpful.
