Train employees for in professional customer service

I was given a van with a shattered passenger side view mirror. I immediately reported this to the staff and was told "it's ok, you can still drive it." Unfortunately, I was pulled over by the local police in the middle of my day of moving for the shattered mirror. I didn't receive a ticket but the inconvenience of being pulled over resulted in me losing 20-30 valuable minutes while trying to move. I suggest the staff be retrained in not renting vehicles that could not pass a simple State inspection as well as putting a customer in the embarrassing and potentially costly issue of driving a van or truck with defective equipment.

This location has a poor rental process and customer service at the counter. I rented a truck to move a washer and dryer. When I was at the counter the representative was not polite at all, told me what the reading was for the gas was and gave me the key. I returned the truck with more gas than when I left however I was told I didn't put enough gas in.My reply was that's incorrect the needle was well over from when I left. I was told I had to put more gas in. So I did, I was upset, already spent more than I wanted to and I ended up giving Uhual way more than I was given. This was my first time renting from Uhual and my last. Enterprise and Hertz have way better customer service and they do a walk around before you drive off to make sure the gas and everything else is correct BEFORE the customer drives off. I recommend Uhual adopts that same practice. I should not of had to spend an additional $9.00 on a $19.99 rental that cost me all most $70.00. I could of went to Enterprise and used my points if I knew what the end cost at Uhual was. The only okay part about my first Uhual experience was the gentleman that check the truck in. He was polite

The trailer I rented was in good condition but it could have used some maintenance. Two of the small running lights were out, probably need bulb replacement. The door was stiff to open and close, just needs to be lubricated. And it could stand a good wash! Other than that, it worked out great and the cost was reasonable!

This was the worst experience I have ever had with UHAUL and I rent 20 or more times a year for long periods of times at that. I was charged for cleaning when I spent 30 minutes cleaning the van and I was also charged for a additional day due to the fact that they did not get to check it in until 8:18 when I was back their on time. I will not pay anything until the amount reflects the weekly rate for 7 days and that cleaning charge is removed because I spent 30 minutes cleaning this van thoroughly.

The Hampton Colliseum location was an absolute disaster. They ruined my entire moving experience by screwing up my reservation and refusing to give me the truck I needed and reserved. They then refused to help me get my guarantee. The Norfolk Monticello location did their absolute best to make it right. I'll rent through them if I ever touch a UHaul truck again.

Answering the question : What can we do to improve for the next customer? 1) Truck needs to be verified,loaded with rented material and ready to drive when client arrive. I called 1/2h prior to arriving. The truck's battery was not in working condition, I had to pick up the dolly I rented on the side walk, and get it to the truck. 2) Truck should be inspected with the client and help should be provided to make sure client knows how to operate. It was a blistering cold day, so I was left to find the truck on my own in the parking lot and it took me 15min to realize it was not because of me, but because the battery was out that I could not get it to start. 3) Be honest, proactive and courteous. I forgot boxes that I purchased in the store. Instead of poking his head out the door to see if I was still there ( which I was since battery was out) the representative just marked them and put them aside, So I would have had to drive back there if the truck had been working... humm. I finally got back inside and got a new truck( clean and working : let give this one star)... But the time of pick-up on my new order stayed the same... What is wrong in this picture? 4) Make sure the client has the right information and does not freeze trying to return the equipment. The next day, I called ( as I was asked to) to make sure the store was not closed due to snow. I was asked to get the equipment back at my own risk or pay an extra day. I chose to return the truck...and the store was CLOSED!!! The people answering the phone are not the one at the store and they had no idea if it was closed or not, and I learned that because I called yet again. U-Haul get it together and make sure the information you are giving is accurate to the location of the customer not some other random place in the US. Sooo, very frustrating. I regularly rent vehicules and it is the worst experience by far that I had from start to end. On the plus side, thanks to the neighbor of this place who nicely directed me to the drop-box for the key. 2 thumbs up for you! Hope this help for the next customer.

The truck that was provided had 3/4 of a tank of gas. The Uhaul attendant was helpful in assisting to load my vehicle on the auto-transport, however the attendant secured my vehicle incorrectly and poorly, including the ratchet straps, via the staff at the return location. Fortunately, there were no issues during the use of the equipment while driving.
