Great Customer Service! I absolutely love the new location - easier access to the freeway. It might be helpful to have at least 1/2 tank of gas already in the truck, and to know about how many miles per gallon each size truck gets. I only needed to go a short distance, but actually filled it more than needed because I didn't know how many gallons was used. This was the only thing that moved the rental from 100% perfect to 99% almost perfect.

The 26 foot truck I rented was clean The store is well above the average U Haul location. I have used this site before (truck the preceding week) and all was perfect for that time BUT - not this time After driving to the location where we intended to load the truck, which was way out in the country 30 miles east - One of the garage door cables was seen to be off the spool and got all tangled and wrapped up on the axel. The door had only been opened 2-3 times beforehand - to put our pallet jack moving materials in the truck We had no tools to fix it. And the door was stuck only 3 foot open - we spent 2 hrs trying to fix it - drove to a second location to get a pliers to let us remove a cotter pin and release the cable on the bad side. This added extra mileage I had not anticipated. Even with the cable removed, the door would open - but then starting getting stuck - this was half way through loading with rain we went to close the door and then noted it wouldn't close ! because of the cable being all tangled up... I was thus worried we wouldn't be able to get it open again (or closed - because the cable so badly wrapped around the axel that has the springs on it - but off the spools all crisscrossed and tangled) so we unloaded the truck through the half open door - crazy a total waste of a day We spent over an hour on hold on the phone trying to speak to someone at U Haul (the phone bounced to the national call center - and we were stuck on music/hold for over an hour, before speaking to someone). They said they would let the Store we rented from know - and they would help take care of the issue - I brought the truck back early - there was no manager at the store - and the folks there, while nice and professional, had no idea how to fix it. They also had never heard of the issue (national call center didn't contact them - or if they did - the folks I interacted with didn't know about it - or have a replacement to offer) I was not able to use the truck. I was charged even more because of the extra miles spent going to get a pliers.... I lost money for paying mover help that just sat in the truck with me there and back - waiting around The day/truck was a cluster.... I rented the preceding week from this same location and all went perfectly. I don't think I should have to pay for this rental I recognize things break beyond peoples control - and don't think U Haul can predict/prepare for all eventualities - but THE NATIONAL CALL CENTER IS A CLUSTER F And the lack of having a manager to make decisions at a site over a weekend - is poor business strategy No one at the store would take responsibility - they all deferred to the manager- and said I would have to contact him on Monday Not appropriate Stan Hazen 216-312-3862 cell
