Make sure the truck is usable in the first place. Multiple mechanical problems with the truck in the first place and during the trip to the point that it was dangerous to drive. Only one headlight worked. Dashboard back light did not work to the point that I can not tell the speed i am going. Lastly I sent in a customer review on Tuesday 2nd July with order number without responses. How is this business run with such incompetency? Overall very disappointed with Uhaul and the service they have provided.

The pickup went very smoothly. Compliments to them. The problem occurred during the trip, when the cable controlling one side of the trailer's back door got jammed and the door wouldn't come down. I was told the fastest way to get U-Haul's roadside help was online, so I tried twice to enter my information at uhaul.com/help, only to get an error message that the submission hadn't gone through. I then used the customer-service chat and was told to contact uhaul.com/help, despite my just saying that I'd tried that and it hadn't worked -- the person was unconcerned with my issue and unhelpful. I went back online only to find my original help request had, indeed, gone through. From then on, customer service was excellent. The repair person said the problem was caused by a bad ball bearing and he ended up having to cut the cable to lower the door so we could get back on the road. We lost half a day of travel when we were already on a tight deadline. What could U-Haul do to improve? Instruct the customer-service chat staff that until they have solved the customer's problem, they own it.

Employee at this location indicated the auto transport I rented could be returned after hours and directed me to the green poster on the exterior of the building for instructions. Returning the trailer after hours was not an option on the uhaul website. I looked for a half hour on the uhaul website looking for the process of documenting the return of the trailer. I got fed up and called customer service. I got Austin, who was super cool and calming. He explained trailers could not be returned after hours due to there being no provisions to secure them. Austin made notes and sent an email or two concerning the misinformation from this location about after hour trailer returns. The following morning, I get a call from Jeff, who I'd rented the trailer from at this specific location. He was wondering when I would be returning the trailer. I had gotten up a little later than normal, and was behind on my plans for the day. Jeff impressed upon me that I could have returned the trailer after hours, and told me that customer service had told given me bad info. I told him I wasn't comfortable leaving the trailer unattended w/ no documentation it was returned. He wanted to continue to press the issue I told him I'd be down to get the trailer returned asap. On my way to the uhaul location, I get a text from Jeff, which I barely glanced at due to being upset about this whole trailer situation, and being I was driving. Once at the local uhaul, Jeff continues to defend his position about the trailer return after hours. "We have security cameras too". I tell him that there was no documentation process I could find on uhaul.com, and reiterated what customer service had said about trailer returns. He says something about $15 off, and is doing something on his phone. After a while of standing in the sun, he says this isn't working and invites me inside. I tell him I don't want a discount, I just want to return this trailer and get on w/ my day. After getting unhooked and on my way, I get another text from Jeff. Again, I didn't, and still haven't read it. I just wanted to be done w/ this difficult trailer return process. Jeff did maintain a professional level in his voice on the phone and in person. However, as the customer I can't stand being told, "they lied to you" from the local guy especially when the corporate website says otherwise. I will never rent from that location ever again. I'd rather buy a new trailer to use for a few hours and then sell it.

Van smelled and there was either cat or dog hair all over the seats. Kinda gross. Don’t think I will rent from this location again in the future.

The only problem was that when I put in my resevation everthing when fine but the next day it was changed they wanted me go 50+ miles more to pick up the trailer. So I did a research and got it within 12 miles from where I was.
