There was no dolly in the truck like we ordered and if there is no one there you can't get in touch with anyone to get assistance. Not user friendly at all.
I arrived 32 minutes late to pick up my truck but still 1.5 hours before closing time and the doors were locked, and nobody was there. When I called to see what was going on i was treated extremely poorly. Customer service is AWFUL and whoever manages operations needs some serious training on how to OPERATE a business. I will LOUDLY tell anybody and everybody i know to avoid this place like the plague.
We waited at the facility for an hour before finding out that the manager is working at another facility and couldn't come. There was no phone number, or paper on the door explaining this. We called U Haul many time during that hour and every time we're told that the facility is open and the manager is just running late! We talked to at least 5 agents before one finally told us what was happening!
I have a lot to address with the location on oaklawn Blvd in Hopewell that is where my business took place in getting my refund and a receipt but had me pick up the truck at the Jefferson location which is stated. I was treated with disrespect when I asked if we could go back to the truck to address the difference we had in milage , gas, and leaves in the truck . Employee was upset we didn't use self check out but I tried explaining that it wouldn't load anything but a receipt of pick up location so we took our own pics from memory of recently renting one and the employee stated we were good to go we didn't have to do self check in etc so we had no way to do a self check out for this other employee and she had a few other things that we had to address that were false and they removed and then still tried telling me I was getting a refund on a card when I paid cash , so we got thru that but I still have a different milage amount and I put more gas in it then when I left it and that there were a couple leaves in the back of the truck. We asked if we could go to the truck with her she refused and said I'll take off the extra gas charge and gave us the charge for milage we didn't use and $25 for the leaves which the truck was swept out and we really wanted to see which truck she checked because it felt like she checked the wrong one but wouldn't show us. So we finally got a refund but still feel she charged us wrongfully with other additional charges and will not let us see or compare pictures etc. I was enjoying using uhaul until this experience now I will no longer rent thru uhaul nor suggest anyone use this location or uhaul in general

The equipment is good but the Customer Service name: Monroe is really bad. I'd made contract with the gentleman names Todd for $317.00 from 0930 01Sept to 0930 on 04Sept with the pick location at the Oakland Blvd, VA near Fort Lee. However the day I picked up the 26ft truck at 0915 they told me to pick up at different location where I met Monroe again. He told me the contract now needed to change because it's different location which I understood however the detail of the contract should be the same except the location. Monroe told me it wasn't the same because it was different entity which he meant now you deal with me so the contract got changed from $317.00 to $350 something and the date changed to 01Sept to 03Sept one day short. I asked why the contract it was not the same, Monroe said it is different entity again. I asked for the hard copy of the contract and Monroe didn't give it to me or even tried to give it. he told me he emailed it to me. I told him if I drove this track and got stopped by the police how did I prove it to the police it's not stolen truck. Monroe didn't care to give it but still said checked my email. He gave me to the truck but I stopped him told him you forgot something you needed to let me check the exterior of the truck checking for dent, scratches anything I could identity as it's not normal wears. I drove the truck out of the U-Haul parking, just about making a right turn I noticed that the fuel gauge shown was not full. so I had to drive to where I could turn around to come back to U-Haul to meet with Monroe again and let him know that the truck was not full and he told me "we don't need to give you the full tank so check your contract" I told him you did give me print out of the contract how do I know. He told me Todd should have told me this. I was thinking you said this was now different entity then he was the one had to tell me not Todd. I ended up park the truck at U-Haul and drove my POV to the Oakland U-Haul location to get a hard copy of my contract and drove back to the truck where I asked Monroe where it told me on the contract where the level of the fuel looking like so I would top it off to where it originally was. 03Sept I returned the truck where I met Monroe again he asked me for the Contract# I told him you had it in the system he claim he had not. He said I couldn't close document without the contract# I looked at him like crazy for what I told me that I couldn't pull my contract from U-Haul computer then I had to pull my cell phone for the pix I took of my contract and let Monroe know so I could close my contract.. Monroe told me I owe additional $158 something for the mileage that exceeded 461 miles which was less than 40 miles which should be 40x.$.98 still don't make $158 then I asked him why $100+ more Monroe told me because I didn't top off fuel to where I should. I told him I did we could go look now to prove his right and I'm wrong. Monroe denied " I'm not going" then I sai
I am a huge fan of this Uhaul location. They go above and beyond to provide the BEST customer service! The manager is very hands-on and delightfully helpful. I will certainly choose this location for my Uhaul needs. Thanks for the great service!

Improve: My expectations of a "per day" rental was not met. I rented on 05 April 2019 at 11a.m. and was told and contacted to have the vehicle returned by 5 p.m. the same day. That is not a "days" rental. I understand additional costs and insurance but $19.99 a day ultimately turned into a $100 rental when I returned the vehicle at 2:00 pm (a 3 hr rental). I had to rush completing the tasks I had to do because of the required return time. I was very unhappy with this aspect of the rental, a day is 24hrs and you should keep your word that you advertise. Additional, $1.20 per mile is exorbitant. Tenure truckers don't make that rate per mile. Uhaul needs to do better in that aspect for their customers.
The location office is very small. Only two customers can be in the office at the same time, additional customers will need to wait outside the office. Recommendation to improve the size of the office so no others will listen or look into your personal documents while in the service desk.
Make sure customers are quoted accurate and complete information when renting equipment.

I reserved my pick up to be at 5400 Oaklawn Blvd. The truck had been dropped off at the wrong site so I was inconvenienced by having to go to another location to get the truck. Since I had also scheduled a work crew, I was charged an extra hours time with NO work being done because the truck was not available at the proper location. No one was willing to do anything to really help ME... it was truly, "if you want the truck you have to go to the other location to get it." The truck's seat was broken and every time I went around a corner or curve I about fell sideways which made steering dangerous. No gas cap, suspension was horrible. Truly fed up with UHaul at this point.
Driver side mirror was so loose it could have fallen off. Had to stop at gas station and ask man working on equipment to help and tighten. Lucky he was there with tools.

The trailer was missing a cap off the left front hub where the bearing is, it was dirty, the lights would go out going down the road, had to get out and shake the wires on the trailer. The staff member that I dealt with was very polite, and helpful. The lot was very muddy where I had to back in to get the trailer, so my truck and my shoes got mud on them.
