Originally was supposed to pick up in Bloomington MN then got a call letting me know I would have to pick up in Hastings mn. When I arrived to pick up the only 26ft availbe was an "in town only". And again had to now drive all the way out to red wing MN where I was finally able to grab a truck. This put my schedule back alot. Yes I was given the mileage difference but what an inconvenience it was mainly cause now I had to spend all that time and gas in my own personal vehicle just to rent a truck. One thing to improve for future customers is making sure a truck is ready for them before they have to run all over just to rent a truck.

Have all trucks leave the lot with a full tank of gas. I was charged an additional $11.50 for gas which, at their location is $4.00/gallon. In other words, 2.875 gallons of gas. I was told that the vehicle averages 10 mpg. We put just under 4 gallons of gas into the truck before returning it; and the total usage of the truck was 36.3 miles. At 10 mpg, 4 gallons certainly should have done the trick. I should not have been charged for another 2.875 gallons of gas. On the original rental paper, the line on the "fuel tank capacity" was at least 1/4" wide, and it was "between 3/8 and 1/2" (in the words of the woman at the desk) The receipt showed fuel tank capacity also to be between 3/8 and 1/2. All this guesstimating could be made unnecessary if Ripley's would rent vehicles that had full gas tanks at the start so that no guessing would be required when the vehicle was returned with a full tank.

Uhaul corporate needs to give 72 hours notice on pick up locations so people have time to plan there routes better without having more stress added last minute with pick up location changes.

everything went great!



The truck should not have been left off the lot. I realize that they really don't test drive the units and if the previous renter doesn't tell the dealership of the problems you can't fix the problem. The brake system needs work, you almost have to stand on the pedal, I realize I had a car trailer on behind but that wouldn't cause it to be that bad. It is just like the power assist isn't working. Also when you step down on the brake pedal you can hear what sounds like a vacuum leak. The power steering makes a growling sound and is like you have no power steering when you are standing still. I am not sure if it is the starter, engine timing, or it could be something as simple as dirty battery terminals, it made you wonder every time you went to start it if it was going to start or not. We only drove it at night where we needed to use the head lights, but on dim they bearly shone in front of the bumper and on high beam they were still worse than it normally should be on low beam. It also had a tendency to drift to the right. I told the manager at the drop of location about it and he said he would get ahold of your repair facility and see what they would do.

We were unclear about checking the vehicle in. We called the number given on our receipt because it was before business hours at the location, but then someone from the facility came up and took our keys and told us he would check us in anyway, but we got no check-in receipt from him. I wasn't sure who the party in charge was, and the process was a little confusing.

The front was a bit dirty, unswept and cup holders were sticky. Otherwise, fine. Picking up was easy enough. Dropping off, not as much. For some reason, I could not use the on-line drop off. Another customer who was there also had difficulty.
